How does a sativa growing at the equator know when to flower?

  1. On the equator the photoperiod is 12/12 all year round. So how do sativas growing there know when to flower? If it's by age then doesn't that make pure equtorial sativas by definition autoflowering strains?

  2. naw just the opposite. they're a bitch to flower. utopia haze is an equatorial girl and i had a hell of a time trying to get her to flower. photoperiod changes a bit and so does temperature, even near the equator. i found that root binding helps push them over the edge so when I did my aeroponic with a utopia cross i had a hell of a time. feel free to experiemnt and waste time and money as i did. i can tell you that there is enough variation in climate to get these to flower near the equator. I dont' know what would happen if you put it square on the equator though.
