i wouldn't really be concerned with giving out rep OP. you don't give out any points since you have little/no rep. once you hit the light green bars is when you make a difference. right now it will show up as purple & be neutral.

What's the problem with neutral rep? I appreciate neutral rep as much as positive rep, sometimes even more, depending on the circumstance. It's not the points that count, it's the fact that someone thought enough of your post to rep you for it...
neutral rep doesnt matter to you because you are maxed out. im just letting the guy know he isnt going to increase rep by +rep somebody.
Never have really cared about my 'rep level'...I've always appreciated a thank you or such acknowledgement from a blade when they've found a post I made either helpful or amusing... Rep points don't really mean all that much...not like you can spend them or anything... Fair enough...
