The bigger plant is around 8 and 1/2 inches and its doing a lot better then it was. The little plant is around 7 inches tall but just got attacked by aphids. I bought some spray and killed all the bugs. Is there anything i could do to help bring my plant back to life? Also how would i make sure the bugs dont come back? Does it look like there is anything else wrong with my plants?
Talk nicely to them. Did you wash off the spray off the leaves and stem with straight phd h20? to be honest they are looking beat up bro. it hurts me to look at em, but as long as you remedy the situation, they will bounce back. Are you making sure your nutes ph is in the acceptable range? Are you testing the runoff? What soil are you using?
Yeah i make sure the water is phed first and im using kelloggs patio plus soil. When i got the clone the bigger one had a yellowish leaf with a little green, now that leaf is almost fully green so its getting better. The new leaves on top are super dark green now but it has some nute burn but it only got it the first time i gave it nutrients and the burns hasn't really got any worse. Its growing about an inch a night. The little one i think got attacked harder by the spider mites and aphids. Well idk what they were. Little tiny white bugs and these black and green flying bugs. I got some organic insect spray and it kiled a lot of them but theres still a couple left i been killing. How do i test the ph of the runoff? I only got one of those aquarium ph test kits and i just make sure my water is phed and hoping its fine. I dont have 100 bucks for a ph meter right now. There is a better way to do it then an aquariaum ph kit? Heres some more pictures. I think my setup is alright for a first grow. I made an air cooled reflector for both chambers. I got a flower and veg chamber in my box. They really need to sell some marijuana growing books at clinics. edit: The leaves with like light and dark green, the leaf is turning dark green now. It was the lighter shade of green but once i gave it nutrients the viens turned dark green and started to spread.
fuck a meter bro...pull yourself out of the mentality that you need to go out and buy technology to fix your plants...you do not first of all i cringed when i heard you say kellogs patio plus those three words are a nasty combo. i think that your plants could benefit from the organic section. look into teas, they are cheap to make and extremely good for your girlies. check it out bro, its good for your head and good for tha ganj the key however regardless is knowledge, either do your research or give up theres no point in wasting time
I think you may want to get a better medium.. that, and it looks fairly dry (second set of photos, first looks damp). Hopefully that's about as dry as you ever let them get before a watering, and you were potting up and didn't just start seedlings in pots that size Weak, sick or unhealthy plants, are very prone to insect infestation. Healthy plants have a natural ability to ward off insects, seems strange if you're first hearing it, but it's very true.. they'll attack the weakest of the 'herd' first in almost every scenario. Make sure you're watering frequently enough.. less liquid, more frequently is the way to go. And a better medium... Pro-Mix, Coco, whatever you feel comfortable with, I don't like to tell people what to use.. just use what you can afford, and what you can wrap your mind around, until you can move on to bigger and better things
You are doing great for the first time. I couldnt sleep with that light in my house, im prob wrong but it looks like a fire hazard. meters are wasting your money if your gonna stick to soil, just order the General Hydroponics Ph Liquid test kits. They are easier to use and read than the aquarium ones, i have the tetra ones for my fish tanks and i hate them, plus they burn your fingers. I run hydro and have been using the gh liquid drops for at least 6 grows, they are great. And i would asap find out how to make a hempy pot. You need to give the plant more oxygen and be able to quickly fix a mistake as you are a beginner. It is easy as heck to flush and remedy situations with these. Soil brings bugs, when you use soil bugs want to come in. I would look into using the bubblebucket method, if you want to go full hydro, it is very easy and like i said i have done it for years and years without a meter, Check out my grow and you will see you dont need to waste"spend" alot of money, and have the best technology to be successful.
Plants are alive, and they have some sort of Consciousness (as i believe) So try to be optimistic around them. The positive energy really affects them. + this may sound weird, but you could try talking nice to them or putting on some nice music
I was planning on transplanting soon always so could I shake off as much Kellogs as I can then put them in some fox farms? Also what would be the best way to transplant using hard plastic buckets? The wiring is all done right on the light. I'll post some closer pictures of the light. It's just temporary till I get an bps.
cervantes says transplanting is the second most traumatic experience after cloning, and they are stressed already. I would check to make sure they are not root bound. It doesnt look like they are big enough to be rootbound but crazyer shit has happened. If you are going to transplant now, use the most care possible to save every root you can. Transplant late in the day so they will have all night to recover another quote from cervantes book. after transplant give less intense light for 1 or 2 days after transplant water with a superthrive or b1 solution to ease the shock of transplant and promote rooting. They look to me like they are plenty big enough to survive the transplant and i would probably do it as soon as you get the time. Best way= be careful and gentle. and water thouroughly after transplant with ph 6.5 h20+b1 solution at 1/4 strength. imho
cool thanks. Im about to try my first transplant. Going from a 3 gallon to 5 gallon then a gallon to a 3 gallon. I got my fox farms for 14 dollars for a big bag, i would of bought this in the first place if i knew it was only 14.
When i was doing the transplant to the little hindu skunk plant i found out that the roots never started growing after the rock wool. When i put the plant in there was a good amount of roots showing. The plant just didn't like the soil? The roots that were showing still were a dark brown, is it still possible to save the plant? Its in fox farms now and watered with the flora series, superthrive, and cal mag and phed to about 6.5. The temps in my box range from around 77 to 82 and humidity is about 50%. The lights are on 24/7 right now but im thinking about switching to 18/6 first then finish the veg then go 12/12. The plants do look better in person then in the pictures. Ill take some with a nicer digital camera and post some more pictures. The top of the plant on the right isn't yellow like in the picture its a nice dark green in person.
That's one of the problems you can face when you pot up too quickly indoors. You put your rock wool 'cube-lings', in pots that were a bit too large, from the looks of it. The soil will start to go 'off' a bit, and invite bad pathogens, and when there isn't enough root mass immediately invading and utilizing the dampened medium. You have a few options, both are probably going to take just as long to show improvement. You could just pot her -down- to something smaller, with better medium, and hope for the best. Or, you could do that, as well as cutting her in three or four places along the main stem, and trying to root all the pieces as clones. Then, if any or all of them take, you'll have healthier root systems and 'cores' (the thick bundle of 'frame work' where the roots leave the stem), and several more plants to boot. A peroxide treatment in the new medium, copper fungicide, and check for teeny, tiny little worm/grubs in the medium; gnats often show up for these conditions. Once you've got everything sterilized, in a few days (when the treatments clear up) you may want to find and use some beneficial microorganisms via MicroZyme or another similar product, to get things back to the way they should be.
The hindu skunk plant was only in a little gallon green contanier. And on the shaman i put the rock wool directly into a 3 gallon and it took off fine. When i transplanted the shaman it had a couple roots to the bottom already.
Just because it did better than the plant that nearly died, doesn't mean it took off fine Slow root growth, to no root growth, are signs that something is very wrong, or you potted up too much too quickly for your environment.. it doesn't look very bright in there, I'd have gone with smaller pots for much faster, and healthier growth. Put it this way, with the right transplanting methods and a healthy environment, you could have had 3 or 4 foot tall, bushy, healthy plants by now.
