How do I get a MMJ card in VA? Im going to be taking a cocktail of pills otherwise

Discussion in 'Marijuana Consumption Q&A' started by andrewrayy, Jan 11, 2023.

  1. Hello I have Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, and insomnia. I’ve just started on antidepressants 4 months ago and switched a few times. Currently on Prozac. It works for the depression but does jack for everything else. When I smoke all these issues go away. THC is really a miracle supplement and would prefer to take that over a handful of oily pills every day. How do I proceed?.

  2. Contact a dispensary

Virginia NORML has all the information you need, including a list of doctors. Virginia doesn't have a conditions list. If you and your doctor decide cannabis is for you you get your recommendation. I see a doctor in my medical group and only pay a copay for my rec. Good luck! Oh, yeah, as for how to precede. You should get some advice here, but VA dispensaries have pharmacists to advise you. I use Indicas for psych reasons.

As others have covered the how of getting a card and access to Cannabis I'll toss a bit of information into the bong.

Inhaled Cannabis is Delta-9-THC Fast acting and equally fast to wear off. When I was using inhalation to control my pain, spasms, and discomfort I found I was was toking every hour on the hour. Getting up several times a night to medicate. Waking up the wife with the smoke and coughing and pissing her off no end.

Eaten Cannabis is transformed by your Liver into 11-Hydroxy-THC. Far stronger and much longer lasting this was the gold key to the crapper. I can take my edible oil Capsule when I wake up and it lasts for 24 hours of relief. If I really hurt and the edible isn't quite enough a tiny toke of smoke will boot the edible in the ass HARD and I'll be flying high again.

Edibles are by far the most cost effective way to consume Cannabis as well. With Eaten needing 1/5th the dose and it lasting 12-24 hours there is no way any other method comes close to the tiny amount of Cannabis an edible takes.

A thumb nail sized bud is 1 gram = 150 milligrams of THC = 15 doses or a 15 day supply. Put another way. 1 gram is hardly enough to load a pipe or roll a pinner joint from. It would be smoked and wear off in 45 minutes

  5. It's recreationally legal. You don't need a card.

  6. If recreational sales dont begin until 2024, but medical patients can buy now hows the recreational part help this poster?

Also after recreational sales start next year, medical patients will be allowed more rights than a recreational smoker.

  7. either way if the person signs up or not the person will need to get to know a guy with weed ... irregardless the doctor etc.... in the end the person will find a person with some weed .. making people need a doc to get Weed is Seriously Fucked up

  8. Oh I thought they were selling. My fault.

It's apart of the legalization process. Could still be illegal across the board, is that better than getting approved by a doctor to use cannabis? Those doctors hand those cards out rather you need it or not. All you have to do find a doctor pay to see one and agree marijuana is needed. Dispensaries in NM have doctors in house 2ce a week. Recreational now doctors aren't necessarily needed speaking on when NM had medical only

  10. @Kai Skywalker Selling without a license is illegal everywhere, that I know of. Recreational or not, bud has to be tested and taxed

  11. IMO, docs are required when the person is ingesting cannabis along with pharma meds ... docs still need to monitor the patient and make adjustments . but in all honesty and all history of this fucked up situation the Doc has never grown nor actually made an exact prescription of what exact type of cannabis flower to ingest LOL.. I could see the Doc now - Make it mandatory if they sign a person up to that to have the doc go to the Dispensary ( LOFL) an then pick which medical plant is best for the person ( The doc has not has one minute of medical education regarding plants as medicine EVER!) ... a pure and Utter Shit show

California played the same Doctor games and still does to some extent as you save by paying lower tax rate having a card and medical usually has higher quantity buy limits per visit then recreational does.

Medical cards are sometimes valid in other states again saving substantial cash on taxes when traveling. A few states like Colorado and Nevada already accept all other state cards. Colorado accepts everything and might get you a AAA card savings so ask. :) I did get a Veterans discount at enough places I started to always ask.

  13. Doesn't change the process, Or make the process any less valid or valuable. Atleast cannabis is becoming legal, most dont mind the steps in order to achieve legalization. Better than remaining illegal anyways

Crazy you quoted me just to argue a doctor's credibility pertaining to cannabis

  14. I'm probably complaining about that in every post .. no offense to you or anyone except for people who are still blocking other people from plants that heal them

  15. I mean the doctor I went to see to obtain my card used cannabis himself, he himself was pretty knowledgeable in effects. Even suggested a few strains in house and to grow. Not suggesting he knew everything, but legalization in most places is still fairly knew hindering cannabis research and education. Can't expect the flood gate to open on a illegal substance that's been criticized and publicly denounced for so many decades. If this is how states want to take steps in order to legalize it's progression not regression.

  16. some docs fringe learn cannabis and effects and modalities for health etc.... most have not a clue ... and even more glaring, the endocannabinoid system where most effects of cannabis are realized is not taught in med schools . the largest physiological system in man and not taught to docs ... something else they can fringe learn on the side as there are so many biochemistry examples to pull from from what we know so far ... sorry to derail this thread with my opinions and Ranting just glaring issues in everyones faces that we just accept and go about our day without question ..

  17. I didn't care if my doctor knew about weed or not all that mattered was legal weed. Doctors are busy anyways all they go by is research, cannabis research is in its infancy stage. Give it another 10-20 years it'll be taught. You act as though weed wasn't a illegal substance, and has been mainstream for all these years. Like it should be okay to hand out crack on the street corner and well documented within doctoral schools. While actually talking about a "drug" that's only rampant up popularity over the last 5 years, being legalized recreationally. Research and documentation is what's taking place right now to be learned and taught. Not everything can be like the covid vaccine, proper research takes a very long amount of time. Come on bud all you know is your experience, what you've read online, and read in books by self proclaimed cannabis experts. You haven't spent decades in a lab running countless studies with countless patients. Which is what needs to be done in order to fully understand what needs to be taught in med school

  18. finding the largest physiological system in man while doing THC metabolism research is not a Small feat or minor achievement ... endocananbinoid system modulates all other physiological systems ! seriously it is that important and you care not whether your doc knows this or not ... more glaring problems
we so put the cart before the horse making docs responsible for recommending cannabis pl;ant LOL ... plants as medicines is the Absolute opposite of the spectrum for those people LOL... I'm done here this is it ... respond back whatever ... Bye
