How do i get a medical marijuana card in California?

Discussion in 'Medical Marijuana Usage and Applications' started by GanjaBeast69, Feb 23, 2010.

  1. I'm not sure how to bring this up with my parents or my physician. I have terrible wrist pain and Ive already had surgery done on it and the pain still wont go away. Every time i smoke some bud the pain seems to go away and i want a club card. How should i go about telling my parents this? Suggestions?

  2. if your in so cal. This place is legit. I called and made an appointment the very next day. I talked to the doctor for maybe a minute paid the fee and boom. The place is right downtown off wilshire, and theres 2 locations in the valley.

  3. yeah im out in so cal. thats so chill what did you tell the doctor was wrong and y you needed the medical?

  4. i got it for insomnia and anxiety. you can get it for anything i know a girl who got it for pms symptoms. you can go in and say your little toe hurts every Saturday in June and they'll give you one.

  5. For a start, I would suggest letting the parents and doc look at my "Granny Storm Crow's List" and let them see that cannabis is a proven pain killer and a whole lot more. There is a very long section on "Pain". The list is here at GC (linked below in my sig), on several other sites, on facebook and you can get a copy by emailing me, or call it up as a google document here-

    https://docs.google.com/fileview?id...zUtZjg2My00ODk5LWE2YjYtYmMyODI5MDM0ODAy&hl=en

So you can educate them, but no one needs to know about your activites here at GC! ;)

Secondly, I would not go to a cheap clinic! They are far less likely to go to court with you if you are busted. Yes, legal MMJ users DO get busted! If you don't have your rec or a card on you, the cops are NOT going to take your word for it that you have one... and away you go! :( (Always have a copy in your wallet or purse!)

NORML has a list of "friendly", reliable doctors- the price varies from doctor to doctor, so call and ask. They WILL go to court for you!

Dealing with your present doctor- print up some studies supporting your need for cannabis. READ THEM, so you can discuss them intelligently. Incidentally, HE CAN GIVE YOU A REC! Any medical doctor can! If you can get him to say (and write into your records) that cannabis may help your condition- you are legal! However, although verbal recs are allowed, they are really a bad idea. The cops want to see your papers! So get it in writing!

Of course, if you just go see a cannabis specialist- there's no problem! You bring in a copy of your medical records, your ID and the cash and you're good to go. It's THAT easy- if you have a real medical problem!

With your parents, well, having medical studies to back you up, won't hurt. You know them best, and they are just as human as you are. I know that sometimes it doesn't seem like they are even the same species as you, but they are. Approach them with respect (a cocky, know-it-all attitude isn't needed!), maturely and calmly, with you being absolutely sure of your facts and having the facts, in hand, to back up your claims.

    Good luck!

  6. Do you need to give proof/past medical records to the medical marijuana doctor showing your pain?

  7. No you do not. They will give anyone with the 65 fee a medical marijuana liscence.

  8. Are you underage? I lot of docs won't give a rec to anybody under 18, and most parents aren't going to go for the "my wrist hurts, so I need to smoke pot." routine, your wrist may very well be in pain, but wait till you're 18, also, a lot of dispensaries won't serve minors.

  9. Honestly, the best bet would be to talk to your parents about it still hurting. See your doctor, try their methods for relieving the pain, and then bring it up with the parents if all else fails. Or, wait until you're 18.

  10. I listened in on the receptionist as she answered the question about minors. The doctor would give recs to minors IF, at least one, but preferably both parents were there AND they signed off to the treatment.

As for dispensaries, each one is different. Have a quiet chat with the owner or manager with the parents present- something may be able to be worked out on a "case by case basis".

Also, any doctor who gives recs for $65 and no medical records, is less likely to be there for you if you get caught with cannabis in your pocket and your rec at home! The cops will NOT believe you when you tell them you're "legal".

  11. Absolutly wrong. While there are doctors like that, not all of them hand out refferals like lolly pops. To the OP, yes you will need to briong medical records as proof of your ailments.

  12. how's it goin, first time postin here, i just got my recommendation a week ago, i didn't have my medical records but still they gave it to me for 6 months for $80

  13. Thats a load of crap go to any recommendation place in los angeles and everyone over 18 gets one who pays the fee.

  14. The place on venice beach gives everyone a card they don't even ask you what your ailment is. That place is mad overpriced though i'd avoid it and there dispencary.

  15. ^That^ is a load of crap. The only doctors who handle recommendations in that way are the ones who don't care whether or not they lose their license. If they lose their license your recommendation is no longer valid.

  16. The doctors aren't as lax about it anymore. The last doctor I saw took a complete medical history, physically examined the areas I've had surgery, and copied the medical records I brought.

  17. they also don't give out cards anymore

  18. You guy's are all retards. As long as the Dr. puts a purpose for you medical marijuana liscence. (believe me everyone has something that they can benefit from the use of marijuana). And yes they still hand them out like candy. Go to the boardwalk theres about 3 people handing flyers to everyone saying the doctor is in. Or go to sunset blvd same story. Try actually reading senate bill 420.

  19. Hey!
A friend of mine was in the same situation, what she did was she went and got a recommendation before telling her parents. Surprisingly her parents were very understanding of it, even though they are not marijuana fans. Its a lot less harmful then pain killers and can benefit you in many ways! Goodluck
