How Do I Consume Hash Oil?

Discussion in 'Marijuana Consumption Q&A' started by GravyTrain, Nov 15, 2013.

  1. I was given a large vile of hash oil. My favourite way to get stoned is by digesting weed butter or inhaling through a vaporizer. Since I'm not really a huge fan of smoking weed or hash by bong/pipe/joint, I've been looking for a way to incorporate my oil into a food consumption fashion. I haven't actually heard of anyone cooking hash oil into anything before, and I haven't found any clear way to do so on any forms I've searched so far. Maybe because it's already a thicker substance thats been extracted? I have no clue what I'm doing. I need someone who knows their shit. Is heating it up with some butter on a spoon the only way? Your help is appreciated.

  2. What kind of vape do you have? You might be able to vape it. Also you can just cook it like normal bud into butter

Hash and hash oil is easy to incorporate int edibles!
Just melt some butter or coconut oil (even better) and dissolve the hash oil into it. Keep the heat low!
If the hash oil is poor quality, then you might see some plant material come out and coagulate on the top of the butter. It's not a big deal, but you could run the butter through a mesh strainer and clarify it before adding it to your favorite brownie or cookie recipe (according to  whatever amount the instructions call for). Depending on the amount of hash oil we're talking about, you could make some really potent brownies and the taste will be much better than if you use flowers…in my opinion -too much chlorophyll-taste to deal with. Good hash oil smells like flowers and spices. Be aware, though…they might taste so good that you eat too many! Edibles are just too hard for me to figure out the proper dosage. If I smoke or vape, then I'm able to maintain a comfortable level of highness and come down easily whenever I want.

    Thanks guys!
  5. Thanks
\nSo if I'm going to make the butter, how much oil should I use to make a batch of cookies or browines??

Well, that's a good question…and it depends on the strength of the oil and your tolerance. I still don't know how many grams of oil you have. You said a "large vile".
I guess I'd probably calculate it like this:
It takes about 1/4 ounce (7 grams) of dried flowers to make a good extraction for a batch of butter to make a pan of brownies.
Good hash oil is (in excess of) 3 times the strength of dried flowers…(If the flowers are %20 THC, then the oil should comparatively be around 60-70% THC).
So, 1/3 of 7 grams is 2.something grams. I'd probably go with that to start. If they aren't strong enough, then you can bump up the next batch accordingly.
You can also make tincture with you hash oil and then use that to add to whatever edible (or drinkable) you might want to ingest. And tincture will store for a long time.
*Be sure to freeze the brownies you don't eat. Wrap them carefully and then pack them into an airtight container and into the freezer. They stay very fresh for a long time this way…but they will go stale quickly out in open air*

Here are a few useful excerpts that BadKat has shared with the professional medical community on working with concentrates. The methods provided by the CannaPharm have been instrumental in successful patient, dispensary and caregiver workshops running in each legal state:

"Cannabis glandular material is notoriously difficult for the body to absorb all on its own, we use the edible solvents we do, not just for extraction which is actually the quickest portion of the process, but more importantly, we use specific oils to separate microscopic cannabinoid clusters, divide and separate the individual chemical components so they may pass through cell walls, while producing a persistent lipid bubble surrounding the cannabinoids, in order to facilitate rapid bioavailability... even the individual but untreated cannabinoids on their own, tend to hit, then bounce off cell walls as they travel down your digestive tract, rather than passing through.

A simple way of looking at it: picture throwing a rubber ball between two balloons, how it may lodge and bounce right off of that crease, in between the two balloons.

Now, picture the same rubber ball coated in grease! This is why a good edible can begin producing effects in as little as 10 - 20 minutes, and why the full load will be delivered more rapidly! Proper 'liposomal encapsulation' via the use of LET to promote metabolically enhanced cannabinoids, like other medications given the same treatment, is said to rival intravenous delivery... aside from also being used in oral and trandermal delivery vehicles, the same MCTs in the coconut oil we use, are now also even used for intravenous delivery, to improve the delivery of pharmaceutical medications, including pharmacological alcohol based solutions.

's why we still make oil whether starting with herb, sifted hash, and even when working with concentrates that have been extracted from the trichome cuticles or 'husks'! :)

So remember that there is much more going on when making canna oil or hash oil, than dissolving the contents of the trichomes to the naked eye; in other words dissolving a concentrate is not where the process ends...
     It's where it begins!
Starting with a fully purged concentrate (even aside from the process used to make that concentrate), actually requires just a little more effort when compared to beginning with sifted hash or flowers, first where there are sometimes plant waxes and salts that can be dissolved when making certain concentrates depending on the solvent used, that are not oil soluble, which can hinder the process, and also due to the simple fact that a concentrate is much more dense than the contents of a tiny trichome, often even when spread fairly thin!

This will walk you through everything you need to know; after spreading thin and giving a brief decarb (it's likely already well on its way *to being active in that form) you can either redissolve in high proof alcohol before transferring to your oil, or alternatively you can gently heat and manually agitate directly in your oil source, preferably coconut oil for its MCT and saturated fat content, until it dissolves to the naked eye, before continuing with the remainder of the process to produce bioavailability.

Cannabis World Summit  : BadKittySmiles Headlines!
Both Rick Simpson and I were the headlining 'star speakers' of the Cannabis World Summit, the Summit is an annual, 10-day, free and informative event, available to all members of our community who are interested in cannabis, in its medical applications, and in what the major players in the community are up to. :)
Nine of the ten days featured three or more speakers for each day, Rick and I were asked to share the Big 4/20 day of the Summit alone due to the volume of content we provided the community, and to our track records with treating and even curing cancer, as well as other illnesses, with our medical oils! My medical oil video tutorials, Rick's interview, and his documentaries can be found on Day 5 / 4-20-2013, along with some bonus footage from Rick.

    Day 5 - April 20

I hope that this helps and that the volume of information is not too overwhelming.
When you get down to the brass tacks, all you are looking to do is to ensure activation, and continue heating in oil or clarified butter for a minimum of two hours at a safe temperature (the CannaPharm suggests a max setting of 220F) with at least one freeze in between, which helps limit heat exposure required by aiding in the expansion and contraction of the microscopic clusters of cannabinoids, which appear invisible to the naked eye upon being initially dissolved in oil.
Once properly divided, each individual cannabinoid molecule may then be freely coated in a persistent layer of lipids for increased bioavailability, not only increasing the speed and strength of the onset, but also reducing the number of cannabinoids wasted or passed through the tract unabsorbed with each dose.

We are very proud of our Kat, and could not feel more privileged to be a part of her close team! When operating online I go by the name Q, I also act as Kat's personal assistant and home caregiver when she is ill and assist her when she travels for events. Just the first segment of the five volume series she produced for the Cannabis World Summit, has earned several thousand more views than Rick Simpson's presentation from the same day. Ever since she has been working nearly all the local events, Harvest Fests, workshops and conventions, bringing free edible samples to pass out during her lectures, and providing professionally reproduced recipe cards for medical oil which can be used as bookmarks, to convert any recipe book to a Medible Guide. Organizers in several medical states out west are implementing work groups focusing on the techniques provided at the CannaPharm, and she is currently poised to act as an interstate medical cannabis consultant for the east coast, with the goal of improving and better coordinating state medical laws to increase oil availability, and help patients connect with growers and caregivers. There are big plans at work for expanding the reach of her educational seminars early next year.
Keep an eye out this spring, Kat may be appearing at a patients group or medical event near you!

  8. Purge it and eat it lol. No joke it should be decarbed and active. Or you can dissolve it in everclear or fats like butter.
