I consider what i listen to good music becasue of the fact that it truely is good and is made by good musicians. How do people actually enjoy Slip Knot, Korn and thoes bands similar in style? It just seems to me that their music sucks the big one. It's not like their good musicians, you cant call hitting a few strings as fast as you can good. They cannot sing, but sure can scream well. Please someone tell me why people can listen to crappy music?
I do not know man. I have wondered that myself for quite some time but never really found an answer other than people have been brainwashed by pop culture and MTV. There are very very few bands thats music will be considered timeless currently. None will live up to the value of the great bands of the late 60's and early70's like the Stones or the Who. Its disapointing that my generations taste in music sucks.
well some guy could consider how the fuck could you consider classical musical good its a bunch of fucking bitches acting all proper. Not everyone thinks how you do bro.
Fuck the classical musical, people only hold on to that crap because its old. Other people hold on to Slipknot and Korns albums because ther kickass, a single concert with either Slipknot or Korn would rip the shit out of your wack ass proper singing geek musicals. Rock On B-Atches!
I like Slipknot and Metal, but i quit going to metal shows or hanging out with the "HARDCORE METAL HEADS@!#!" because to them it was like a game of "My dicks bigger then yours" with who's the most hardcore. Its like watching some of this shit my friends brought back from hellfest, its ridiculous, i still like the music, but id much rather light a bowl at warped tour then get hit with a spiked bat.
Word. It really isn't that difficult to understand that different people will think different musicians/music good. That doesn't mean it's neccessary to call everybody else's tastes in music "crappy".
i dont listen to slipnot or anythinglike that but jst because someone enjoys differnt music that u dont listen to doesnt always make it crappy.
yeah man..that's crap dude! I listen to some classical music..theres nothing wrong with that. Were all different...thats what makes us great. You may not like listenin to Rachmaninoff or beethoven..but I do somtimes..I like George Clinton..I like Peter Frampton...Some people think these suck but I don't...and I could give a rats ass what anyone thinks about my taste in music!!
With you on this one man, the dumb narrow minded jerks who even refuse to see anyone elses point of view and listen to only one style of music, or those who think that the band they like is "like so important", "you know?" "like real musicians",they're entertainers for fuck sake!! Some folk need to grow up and realise that opinions are like assholes, we all have one. I have in my collection at this moment stuff as far apart as The Meteors to Mantovani, Alice Cooper to Julie London, BB King to David Byrne and loads of others too, even bubblegum pop has it's fans and it's place (not here though lol) so I say listen to whatever takes your fancy. Zeppelin Joint what do you class as "good" music then??
all music is good not all music is for you though like opal said.. different tastes in music i listen to a lot of bands/artists myself... i just get the most out of music i guess. every type of music has a different effect.
Yup...can't argue about taste... Look at world music. Some doesn't even have tones. Just rhythm. And I still like it
Bands now have less and less tallent as the years go on becasue they can produce a song that sounds ok in the studio and have a good image. Back in the day their was barely any special equipment in the studios so bands had to beable to make and play really good to sell records instead of bands today who just play their instruments like they just got them and swear to attract attention. Out of any genre used today i'd say that blues is probbaly the most influential type of music and the most well played music. Most blues bands don't sell many records and rely on concerts where the audience is paying full attention to the music so they need to be good. I went to a blues concert with several non famous blues bands and it just blew my mind how good the music was. I didn't know any of the songs and i hadn't ever really listened to the blues before. So i think that the blues bands are the best over all bands if you count tallent and how it sounds.
If you don't have respect for classical music, then you don't have respect for music. No one has or will ever top the skill of classical musicians. Just because someone screams into the mic doesn't meen they are poor musicians. Opeth screams and they beat the shit out of dream theatre. Bands like slipknot and korn are just crappy, and only famous because it's simple, accessible crap with a good marketing strategy. There is so much good metal out there right now, people are just too stupid to look for it.
A verry close minded statement IMO. Who made you the deciding factor in good music? Who made you the music authority.I personally like all kinds of music. Just because you do not like it doesnt make it crappy. You sound like my 19 yr old brother. He has never toked, and is the most close minded person i have ever met. If it isnt exactly what he likes, it sucks and it shouldnt even be produced. Obviously there is a market for that music or it wouldnt be produced. You also have never listened to slipknot. I will give it to you that some metal bands play a few cords, but slipknot is a very, very musicly talented band. I have seen them in concert twice, and they rock. Their newest cd has a few acoustic songs, which i think sets them apart from other metal bands. I would put their drummer up against any drummer in the history of music. Joey Jordason blows my mind. Fieldy of korn is also a very good bass player. I listen to artist from elton john to slipknot. From Hank Williams JR to outkast. From Celtic moods to the 12 girls band(that cd is awsome). I dont think any music is crappy, i think it is all good in its own way. You might find this hard to believe, but there are some people who think your music sucks. I am not one of them, but they are out there. If they told you that your fav. artist sucked, what would you say to them? It is called taste, and it differs from person to person. If everyone liked the same thing, the world would be boring. "If you don't have respect for classical music, then you don't have respect for music. No one has or will ever top the skill of classical musicians." Very true statement. I dont understand how someone can like anything without knowing where it came from. Classical music is the root of modern music.
That's just not true. What about the great jazz artists doing incredible pieces of music off the top of their heads?
cuz they do.. simple as that.. i used to like korn and slipknot, and i still like them too.. (korn's 1st, 2nd, and 4th album and slipknot's 1st album).. it's taste.. personally the songs are kinda catchy and i grew up with that music.. you don't have to have talent to make good music.. i mean check out bob dylan's voice.. he's being nominated for a Nobel price in literature.. ok well that's different, it's for his lyrics.. people have different tastes, and plus most of the people that listen to that genre are teenagers with no broad sense of music and just want to take their anger out with something.. i'd rather they do it with music than with weapons.. i mean my cousins in mexico listen to korn, slipknot, rammstein, system of a down, limp bizkit and all that but they're teenagers and plus they're like 5 years behind the US in like almost everything but the internet.. obviously these bands don't have MUCH to offer but consider the social impact they have on these people..
Agree completely. Bands such as Machine Head, Fear Factory, Slipknot, American Head Charge, etc. are, popular to contrary belief, incredibley talented. Just because they are meshed into a specific genre doesn't mean they suck. And screaming is very difficult to do. I dare anyone who disagrees to try screaming their way through a 40 minute set. Good luck with that, motherfuckers.
First of all, to consider anything like Slipknot or Korn as metal would be shameful. These are complete sellout bands and their style and lyrics are unimpressive. Go pick up a real metal album like Reign in Blood or Blizzard of Oz. As far as general musical taste goes, everyone likes their own thing. What you might not like might be someone else's favorite; it's just the way it is. Peace
