How can i turn 2.5G + kief into as potent of a butter i can?

Discussion in 'Cannabis & Weed Edibles: Cooking & Recipes' started by Zr-01stamg, Sep 9, 2012.

  1. I wanna make a small batch of cannabutter for cooking purposes and i was wondering what steps can i take to get the most i can out of it? It'll be 2.5g's of dank bud and the kief from the last 1/4 O i got. Like what butter works best? whats the best method of cooking it down? etc etc.

  2. I think the first step would be to decarb the weed and kief that you've got.

While it's decarbing, head out and buy some unsalted butter.

Then, using the double boiler method, mix the weed and butter! And if you don't know what the double boiler method is:

Once decarbing is finished, get two pots out (one larger than the other). Fill the large one about halfway with water and get it boiling. Then put the smaller one on top so it's floating on the boiling water.

Put your butter in the empty pot, put your weed in the butter, and let it simmer for as long as you can handle. I think a couple hours is recommended. Stir once in a while, and make sure there's still plenty water in the bottom pot. This is to make sure the butter doesn't get too hot.

edit: This was all from memory, so someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

I think the ratio people usually go with is 1oz:1lb butter, but I'm not sure of that either
