I'm using rope string and some cable ties, but then I thought what's going to happen when the buds start taking over the stalks??
What do you mean by tying down your leaves? Is this for LST'ing or is there another technique you are attempting? I like gumby string, strong enough to hold and big enough that you won't cut into your plants. I actually schwazze on day 1 of flower and day 21, so I pretty much get rid of all the water leaves on both days. Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum mobile app
The leaves are what make the buds if they don't get light you won't get many buds. when the plant no longer needs the leaves they will turn yellow and fall off or you can remove them then.
Why do I schwazze? It allows for much greater bud development and yield without seeing a drop in quality. By day 21 the plant is so full of leaves again you'd never know you stripped a plant entirely. All my genetics are stable so I never get hermies from the stress of removing the leaves, which is a main concern for people and should be cautious about strains they don't know well enough. Hope the photos are clear, can't tell from the small preview when selecting. Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Basically it's so the lower branches can get light as there's 4 under one light so to keep the bushes down and instead of taking off the leaves what if I tie them down but will that effect the growth of the bud where the rope is
How low of branches are you talking about? I've found that sometimes the lower branches will just end up being larf. Do you lollipop your plants? Don't be afraid to take a few leaves off, especially if they're large and blocking important node sites. You don't have to get extreme as I do but it's something I've seen be very beneficial if done at the correct time in veg and flower. Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum mobile app
I've lollipopped one plant, I don't want to cause stress and produce hermies as in the past that's been the case lol so far I've just tied the big leaves down to the main stalk but wondered if that will stunt bud growth at all
What's your growing methods consist of? Medium, nutrients, lighting, CO2, etc. I've lollipoped as long as I can remember with a handful of strains and phenos within each strain and have yet to see hermies from stress! Maybe it could be the genetics playing a bigger role than you may think unless you consistently run the same strains and understand them well!
The strain is blue cheese... Medium is coco professional plus with clay pellets... 2 X 600w hps A bag of exhale co2 Canna coco a&b, rhizotonic, cannazym, pk13/14, canna boost, bud blood (all at right times) I think last time was due to all the leaves I chopped and also I gave them more additives like bud candy and a few others I was trying so I ended up with a hermie that sexed the rest.... So now I'm abit wary of overdoing anything and have stuck too the canna range
