  2. Most likely, the answer already exist in the nature. With all the species -both in plant and animal world- disappearing every day by deforestation, natural habitat destruction, mono culture and human selective breeding (with or without GMO), we are putting ourselves in more trouble, every single day. Viruses and other diseases will find their way infecting and colonising more and more cultures. Only evil company like Monsanto will make more money while we keep ruining the planet.
What if the real answer already exist in Landraces and that, because of lack of «bag appeal» or not being over potent, we are purposely extinguishing them?
Answer is not in GMO. Answer exist in the nature. Sorry to be a bummer, but after all, this is an Organic thread and we should put our faith in Organic.

  3. I don’t doubt it about Monsanto. I did read that it was first found on hops in the 80’s. It wasn’t until 2019 that it was first confirmed in cannabis. I was in Humboldt in 2015 and I remember hearing about ‘dudding’. So it’s been around.

I’ve talked to some folks over there and it sounds like it’s a clusterfuck. Lots of $$$ is being lost. I’m more concerned with loss of genetics over this.

  4. From what I understand, you can cleanse the genetics through the process of temperature treatments and meristem tip culture, there are already companies offering this service but the cost is several thousand dollars a clone.

It's primarily a problem if you buy/trade clones. A lot of clone sellers including dark heart were selling dirty clones without realizing it. If you just do the leaf test you can get false negatives, nowadays it's becoming more common to test root hairs.

  5. Not really sure any of us have a choice. Most likely that 95% of us eat GMO daily.

  6. No GMO seeds for me!!! There's definitely something with GMO when the chickens won't eat GMO corn. Not only the chickens but I've set pans of it out for the birds and wild animals and they won't eat it. Even Mexico has reduced it;s purchase of yellow corm from the US by 50% this year with plans to eliminate it completely.

If they go GMO with pot they will fuck it up the rest of the way where would be breeders failed.

  7. Interesting mexico situation, I wasn't aware of it. thx for sharing. We'll see how that plays out next year but not sure Mexico has much of a choice but to accept the GMO yellow stuff....economic conditions and supplier constraints...

  8. Yesterday I saw an ad for UVC. They some bands of UV will kill it. I don't remember it was here or Grasscity. Anyhow it was a UV company. I didn't pay too much attention but I think they said 30 minutes under the light would take care of it.

  9. I just read that a while back. According to the article they already grow all their white corn. They are smart enough to not eat this stuff.

Here's an example of our stupidity. As far as GMO pot goes we need to let them know under no uncertain terms that they keep their f@@king hands off!!! All growers need to boycott any seed company that even sells it.

It should be considered a crime to mess with our food. I'm for making GMO "Schedule 1".

  12. In this case I can not stand with either the US or Canada.

Short, sweet, and simple, Mexico is RIGHT. The US and Canada are the bad guys in this. They are forcing not only us but the people in other countries eat stuff that's hard to call food.

It's time to start, not asking, but demanding that our congress steps up and makes them leave our food alone. Monsanto should be forced to prove that GMO is good or take it off the market. We have already proven that Round Up causes cancer and Round Up is the reason for GMO. Get rid of the Round Up and the GMO.

  13. GMO food isn’t allowed to be grown/sold in most of Europe, so Mexico isn’t the only one not wanting it.

  14. Thanks, I didn't know that. We used to think the movie 1984 was just a fiction story that would never happen. We past that before even 1984. If you were as old as I am it would boggle your mind to see the differences from the times I remember 70 or 75 years ago to now. I'm a little too old to get on the band wagon again so someone esle is going to have to do it if it's goingto get done.

You still have the freedom to eat good food, if you can find it or grow it. We could grow more of our food than we do but Ms DWW likes to grow flowers and I like to grow weed.

  16. This line caught my attention. Not sure why optimizing plant health by growing in living soil would necessarily result in lower yield/potency:

"For now, so-called “living soil” can work as a sort of health insurance, Singh said. “You are trying to optimize the health of the plant. You may not necessarily get as high a yield. You may not get high potency. “But you have a more robust plant that can definitely keep some of these viruses and viroids more latent or asymptomatic.”

  17. I think that with "living soil", if everything is right, the plant will produce the amount and potency that it's supposed to. You could probably squeeze more out of it with a bunch of high dollar nutes but organic is the best.
