homemade oak pipe

Discussion in 'DIY and Homemade' started by sova123, Sep 17, 2009.

  1. this is the third pipe i have made. wanted something that migh last a while. but as i was making it i thought of giving it to my friend so i am not sure. I think I'll call it PotLuck, i might even brand its name on the side (or have someone artistic do it). i got some pics of the process so here goes.

  7. very nice pipe, whats it like on the inside? and the bowl?

  8. I still haven't smoked out of it cuz I'm dry but i am going to Humbolt in a few days so... :D:yay: i will let you all know how it hits then.

  9. can you post some pictures of the holes in it and maybe how you did it. i would like to try this for fun sometime.

  10. i used to build pipes a while back, just get a thick piece of wood, drill a perfectly centered hole, then screw in a screw, put it on a drill press and just sand that fucker for a good 30 minutes

get the bit that drills perfect bowls(forgot the name) and then use a dremel to make it round.....

i still got a piece, the only downside is its made out of pine... i wanted a cherry piece, best wood for pipe i think, but fuck that, smoke your weed from glass...

  11. that is beautiful and simplistic.
youve inspired me to try something similar.
    peace

  12. Yeah that is basicly what i did except that i shaped it with some draw knives until it looked like it does in the second pic and then drilled the large hole straight back from the mouthpiece to under the bowl. Then i drilled a little hole down where the bowl was going to be that connected to the bigger hole. after that i used a belt sander to get the shape right and had to carve out the bowl with a normal drill then a knife cuz i did not have the right bit. the you have to hand sand it for like an hour or so to get it nice and shiny. then i just rubbed it down with my hand for a day and a half to give it a hand oil finish. time intensive but it is smooth as silk now.

    heres some more pictures,
i did not get the hole centered. something i should work on for next time.

  13. Nice work! I'm working on a piece of white oak I found while 4x4ing nothing like that. Very nice piece and the size now that's a PIPE!

  14. Very interesting work man, do you have any other projects you might do or was this just a random act?

  15. I have made a few pieces now, some of them are also posted, well only my steamroller and bong.
    I really enjoy making pipes.

  16. Wow. Way to go, man. That looks legit.

Definitely let us know how it hits. I bet it hits nice and smooth.

  17. Nice job on that pipe!

Are you going to put a finish on that or do you just smoke it as-is?

Can you throw up a pic of that bong u made too.

  18. sweet
i've been designing a wooden pipe i wanna carve/drill but i have yet to get a good peice of wood. make sure you cure the wood well before you use it that much (smoke some really good smelling tobacco out of it to help give the wood some flavor and insulation)

  19. I fucking love your sig.

Sorry I know that's off topic, but it's worthy of it.
