  5. You can get 42w security lights with ballast for under $20 at Wal-Mart

  6. ummm, all that light is is a round T5 tube...

i was thinking of using one of these in my new box (not built yet) to basically go around the plant (like a hula hoop) around the middle to supply some extra lighting...

these are excellent globes and put out an awesome amount of light, i have one inmy living room and one in each bedroom in my house and they light up the rooms like xmas trees, the 42w in the living room puts out more light than is necessary and much more than the two 42w CFL's that used to be in there

i say go for it, you can get specific fixtures for these at most lighting stores, and you can get them in 2700k and 6400k

  8. what you want to see pictures of my living room light?

  9. LOL...LOL Your concept of surrounding the plant with circular T5 intrigues me, one at top and one mid way sounds cool!!! think...360 degree light
I toyed with this years ago, but can't get the circular tubes up my way
if you can....give it ago Kaz, post us a pic
But I will stand by my post and say it's all in the lumens, and CFL's may be more intense per watt than these circ, T5's...we wait an see!

  10. oh right, you want me to give it a go :) hehe maybe, i dont have a cabinet big enough to fit one of these circle globes

my current cab is 6 foot tall, 2 feet wide but only 7 inches deep, the 42w circle globes are about (looks at the ceiling) 12-14" diameter

if i DID have a cabinet big enough,, i'd definitely give it a go, my only concern would be how to suspend it, i wouldn't want wires holding it up as there isn't really a mounting point on the globe apart from where the wire attaches

    i'll think about it,

also i have heard t5 and t8 globes tend to put out more lumens per globe than an equivalent wattage cfl, i'll try to find the link i found that under... it was on a different forum, possibly the autoflower network

  11. 7 inches deep...just sucks!! I'd recommend a minimum of at least 24 inches
..to hang these circler globes maybe a rack..?
I've used T5's for years my vegging rack is a diy. of 10 x 40 inch tubes, in the old days to bud ..we just change the cool white tubes to warm white, then some guy decided to bud using a street light,...now we got a million dollar industry in HPS....!:)

  12. well, i'll see what happens, although many people produce great yields in PC boxes which are basically the same dimensions of floor space but 4 times shorter in height

i can theoretically grow single trees in my cab, and actually that's the plan :)

  13. They are pretty small tubes. I would give it a ago if i knew how to wire a ballast nd get one.

I think you should give it ago
