So guys i'm thinking of creating a vaporizer with mason jar and incandescent bulb light as heat source. Here's some picture of it, tell me what do you think. Just tell me if you think i'm making something useless, oh lol. Finished vaporizer I use a stainless steel plate inside since it absorb all heat from light bulb. It can be called a bowl I guess. The unfinished picture of it One of the advantage of this is you can controll the amount of heat by using different watt of bulb, or at least that's what I think.
I haven't tested it yet as i dont have anything to vape now, but i tried turned it on and i touched the plate inside and its very hot i guess this might work.
At first I laughed at you, then I see what you've created there. I now wish to see how it works for you. Raising and lowering the bulb would control the temp more than bulb wattage I imagine. Do you have a way to measure the temp in the bowl? An oven thermometer maybe? It would have to hit at least 180C or so. Some foil around the jar may help to heat it up some.
I believe one vape has variable temperature from 50C to 210C, so it may not need to reach that kind of temp. I would put the back of the bowl near the light, so the herb isn't directly exposed to heat, this may decrease the risk of your stuff burning.
I don't have anything to measure the temperature of the bowl unfortunately. But I was thinking about spraying the jar black to prevent heat from going to the outside, increasing the temperature inside. Not sure if that would work/needed though.
Made a similar one years ago, but with a soldering iron, instead of a light bulb. Used a dimmer switch to control temps, which should also work for you. A simple probe kitchen thermometer will work to measure your temps.
