  1. i went out to my local pet store and bought aome air pumps and some stones the package says one pump is good for up to 60 gallons and the other 15 in my 5 gallon bucket it doesnt bubble very much why is that ? i have a marina 200 double line and a marina 50 with elite stones gc wont let me upload pics for some reason

  2. should a one port be good or 4?>

  3. Do the math bro. Gph is nothing its about lpm and that should be like 1-2 lpm or more for each gallon you want to aerate.

I don't want to be that guy. But gph and lpm are both the same measurement. Both represent the amount of air being pumped in a certain amount of time. So ur comment is meaningless

  5. Erbalist is correct, going from lph to gph just requires a conversion factor.

Anyways, a regular aquarium pump will be fine. Water doesn't require a ton of bubbles to have a high dissolved oxygen content. In fact, it seems that fluming is a better option than air stones. Fluming is basically keeping the water moving quickly, like in rapids.

I personally run a vertical rdwc with zero air stones, and my plants are receiving plenty of dissolved oxygen to flourish.

I do believe we had a whole convo about flooming.

  7. I use it now in my DWC cloner. I just stuck a 200 gph pump in the bottom of my 5 gallon bucket pointing straight up. I'm having good results.

I was having issues with damping out, and I have a feeling that the air being pumped into my bucket through the airstone was adding things into the water. I grow in a basement.

  8. Sounds like ur pulling mold spores or something from the air. Could just be a humidity problem as well.

How does the filter look like? Any dark spots?

  9. My point wasn't that they were different, just that when you do the conversion it changes the number drastically. IE 60 gph is nowhere near 60 lpm. Since most posters on here discuss airpumps in lpm I wanted to be sure he hadn't just seen a number and bought one with that gph rating instead of lpm. Please give me a little more credit than that. Haha

  10. How many buckets are you running? Keep in mind you only need to aerate your water at about 1-2 lpm/gallon max. I highly doubt your running 75-100 gallons right now. Take your total gallons of water to aerate and look for a pump rated about double that in lpm. You don't have to overspend too much. That money could be better doesn't elsewhere to increase yield IMO.

  11. i was gunna do one 5 gallon bucket what do u recommend ?
