Holding the smoke in your lungs

  1. I just read an article that the THC is absorbed in your lungs in two seconds and holding it longer does not increase the effect. If you feel light headed when you hold it, it is not because of THC it is due to being deprived of oxygen.

I would appreciate your opinions on this?????

  2. Please post link to the article.

  3. Stop reading articles. Just smoke and find what you like and what works for you. Weeds legal, if you exhale a little thc it doesnt matter, there will always be more to smoke.

  4. I think it's bullshit. Empirical testing tells me the longer I can hold that hit the more fucked up I get. I smoke pure Kief and it DOES make a difference in how hammered you'll get. Don't want much stone? Take a wee tiny toke, blow it out fast. Want to stagger when you walk? Take a big one and hold for 90 seconds.

I'll bet you dollars to donuts none of the researchers have smoked for 45 years.
    Ask ME how it works.

Give me a researcher. 50 grams of good Hash and you'll get a whole different kind of report :)
We'd see that attitude in Germany back in the 70s smoking Hash.
Newbee:: I'm not getting high enough.
Oldfart:: Hold the hit in fool.
    15 minutes later
Newbee: Hanging out the window puking from the spins.
    Newbee:: I'm to high.

  5. I am one of those people who just can't let things lie. I have to continue to research things revealing the only OCD trait I have. And where I live it is not legal except for medical purposes.

  6. Thanks for the reply. I was thinking the same thing.

  7. As long as that smoke is in your lungs more red blood cells are exchanging C02 for O2 and grabbing more THC along with the O2. More and More And.....
At 65 years of age I do know the difference between feeling faint (lasts a few seconds) and being stoned (last an hour or two)
No Mr. researcher I'm not just light headed. I'm so fucking high I can't walk straight even with help.

Here is a little trick to getting the most from every toke. Blow out and blow out again. Dead empty. Take a medium 1/2 hit. Wait past where you'd exhale. Suck in more air. Wait a couple of seconds and suck in more. Drive that smoke in as deep as you can.

Blow out half. Stop. Wait as long as possible. Inhale fully. Hold. Blow out that half. Stop if you see smoke. You can keep teasing that first half lungful of smoke for 3-5 minutes. Works really well with concentrates. Hash-Kief-Dabs.

  9. That's true. There are tons of articles saying the same thing. I answered this in another thread and posted about 10 links or more to different articles saying the same thing. Holding your breath will make you feel "more high" but it's not from thc or the weed, it's from depriving your brain of oxygen.

  10. I would say this is unwise to do with flower.

  11. Why???

  12. Eventually all the smoke, thc and everything else, will settle and be absorbed into your lungs.

  13. Stoner myth about holding it in. Sorry I don't know how to post a link but google "Debunking the myth of holding a hit of marijuana."

  14. Do the science yourself. Take one inhalation of weed every two hours and hold the hit as long as you can. If you don't like this experiment you don't smoke weed and are a true Republican.

  15. I use to hold n hits when I was young now I just smoke weed like a cigarette. I’ve got plenty I’m not worried bout runnin out.

  16. Exactly.

  17. I am definitely not a Republican. haha

  18. It's been discussed here before and as BnW notes is nonsense and is not logical as BnW for reasons he noted. Below link is the source of that mis-information. Poorly designed studies with an agenda during a pre legalization era when research was often intent on making pot smoking look bad. If one thinks there isn't any more usable THC in breathed in smoke then one ought consider how supercharging a friend with one's breath after drawing in and holding a bit has always been able to get friends high. The below study admits THC blood levels increase but claims because people didn't report supposed increase in "subjective effects" it in their opinion wasn't increasing effects. Duhhhh! Instead of 10 puffs each session how about after just one or two after not smoking for a couple days minimum. After one takes several hits, it is often difficult to tell from draw to draw any differences, especially if one has been smoking all week daily.

Marijuana smoking: effects of varying puff volume and breathhold duration - PubMed

In contrast, breath holding for 10 or 20 sec versus 0 sec increased plasma delta 9-tetrahydro-cannabinol levels but not CO boost or subjective effects. Task performance measures were not reliably influenced by marijuana smoke exposure within the dosing ranges examined. These findings confirm the utility of the controlled smoking technology, support the notion that cumulative puff volume systematically influences biological exposure and subjective effects, but cast doubt on the common belief that prolonged breathholding of marijuana smoke enhances classical subjective effects associated with its reinforcing value in humans.

  19. It has been proven by science Karen's are right 120% of the time. Let her breathe for you and be high for you. Her opinion of your life is greater than anything you could live for. You are not as good as the judgment day of Karen. She has sung.

Holding the cannabis smoke in your lungs longer totally gets you more baked!
