Holding in vapor, questions/concerns

Discussion in 'Marijuana Consumption Q&A' started by Maxm, Jan 11, 2013.

  1. hold it in for as long as you want im not trying to persuade you but dont suffocate yourself

  2. Not really semantics, they're 2 very different processes with 2 very different outcomes.

But they have a similarity, that doesn't make it semantics.

Not trying to nitpick, just putting it out there :p

But, I hold smoke in for about 4 or 5 seconds, vapor about 10 seconds ish. Vapor does take a bit longer to make it into the blood stream, and it doesn't contain the same plant waxes, chlorophyll, ect that smoke usually contains, so it wouldn't hurt the lungs much to hold it in longer. Whereas, holding smoke longer than 5 seconds has been shown to not increase the blood level cannabinoid content, but does increase the amount of tar (the plant waxes, salts, and other vegetative matter in the plant) one absorbs into the lungs.

He said if he "held the hit longer". He didn't mention a time span. I've held hits for 30+ seconds and trust me, there's some oxygen deprivation going on there.[/quote]

As already stated, oxygen deprivation would take 3+ minutes.

  4. If you can hold a hit until you get oxygen deprivation ten by that logic you could probably choke yourself to death just by holding your breath.

Your body has reflexes that you can't fight. Like breathing, eating, and sleeping for example.

  5. Vapor is absorbed much faster than smoke. I dont see any need or benefit to holding it in.

Vapor is absorbed slower than smoke. Smoke is absorbed in the first five seconds of inhalation but vapor (larger molecules) takes longer to absorb (like Dr. Sheldon said, around ten seconds.)

I always pull a nice cloud of vapor and hold it for no longer than 10-11 seconds, other times I'll exhale after 5-7 seconds. Just depends how your feeling and how you wanna sesh at the moment really.

  7. Yup, definitely agreeing with this. There's much less cannabinoids per volume of hit with vaping versus smoking, since you vape much less than you would smoke. Less cannabinoids, more water. Take a bit for the molecules to be absorbed through the aveoli.

  8. If you see a vapor cloud when you exhale, that is not smoke, you are exhaling THC vapor.

  9. I've been smoking for a while now but mostly glass and I bought a vapor RXT it's a pen vape that does both dry herb and wax. I just use it for dry weed but I haven't goten high from it before. I've gotten buzzed I guess but when I use it it does make vape clouds not very thick but still vape clouds. Does anyone know why I'm not getting high?

    Please help!!
