Iv got 100 x 120 piece boards of our own design , uk manufactured pcb with lm561c and lm561y dropping soon. A 240mmx240mm board and a 80mmx600mm strip. Both 36v
Ill also have 288 piece boards and 144 piece boards at 48v.

Iv been busy over the last few month iv not been on here

Heads up, samsung lm561c in 3k are almost non existant right now. This is why hlg are releasing new boards with nichia. The samsung lm561y is gonna replace them.

  2. Sweet. I have seen the new boards with Nichia. I was hoping someone could report on the performance.

Is the efficiency of the new samsung 561y diode much higher? The c was a good 10% more efficient then the b series.

  3. They are almost identical to the lm561c. We currently have 1 x 288 piece board of lm561y and its booked in for sphere testing. When i get the results i will let you know.

The reason for the switch is more to do with the lack of 3000k and 3500k in lm561c . They are so popular there is non left. So people are either having a 2700k/4000k mix or waiting for the lm561y so they can utilise 3000k again.

  4. Based on hints from Stephen at HLG, it sounds like they'll be switching over to LM301B in the near future? Hopefully Samsung has brought the price in line with the LM561C.

  5. Yeah, iv got some 301b boards designed too. Cant get the diodes at the moment though same issues with lm561c 3k diodes.

It all adds up to a price rise on the cards from samsung if you ask me

  6. More hints from HLG: it's very possible that we'll see LM301B-based QB120s, QB132s, QB96s, etc. Prices should remain the same. Also, expect LM561C S7 bin at some point.

At this point I think samsung can't raise prices much because there's competition from nichia and others. Eventually cree and the other big boys will have similar offerings if they're not stupid.

It's funny when you're running led. You get setup but as the time goes by better and better diodes keep coming out. It's not like HPS where the new setups are only a few small percentage points better. There's been large leaps in led in the last few years especially in price/performance. I'm probably not going to need a new led for a few years. I still have extra qb120 boards not being used.

They seem to like it a lot. I’ve got it down to about 20”. It’s kind of weird to see such a small profile light putting out all that light.

  11. Pictures almost never do them justice. They're pretty surprising to see in person. I could replace half of my living room lights with a single 60 watt qb120. I already had it out there and it's way better lighting then what I have in there which is about 4 times the power.

  12. Yea when I built it I was in my garage with 12 foot ceilings. Lit the whole place up

  13. Agreed. Thing I noticed about the new stuff coming out is it seems to just be a variation of the existing product. I haven't seen anything out there yet that makes me wish I didn't buy my 288's and waited for something new. What gets me is how CLW and KIND Blackdog etc are still selling their LED's at insane price points. https://growershouse.com/kind-led-x-series-xc150-bar-light
That light bar for example. 530$ for a supplemental 150watt side light?!?! Fucking insane!

  18. I wonder if you can mix an match V1 and V2 boards. I'm not interested in buying any for quite a while. I'll treat it like a Samsung cell phone and assume they will be releasing new diodes every 6months with little to no change.
