Hey guys, I started a new grow a month ago.

Growing 4 plants. I started them out in 5gal pots. I am not going to transplant them.

I started them in a 2x2 tent underneath 2x Vipar300 LEDs, and will transfer them to a 4x4 tent tomorrow (day 29 from seed) underneath a HLG 600H QB.

Using a 50/50 mix of FFOF/Happy frog soil with 10% perlite.

Today is day 28 from seed. I topped them once, and I fucked up topping the bottom right plant, which is why its smaller than the rest.

I have not given them any nutes yet. There are plenty of nutes in the soil for a ~30 day veg. I will begin to give them cal-mag and Botanicare Grow in a few days.

I will flip them to flower in 10 days or so. I will also do some LST

    Here's the progress so far

    Day 30 from seed

Transferred the plants into the 4x4, where they are basking in the glory of the HLG 600H QB. I have not given them any nutes yet. Only tap water PH'd @ 6.5. My next watering, I will add 1/4 strength of cal-mag and Botanicare Grow.

I gave them a light defoliation today. I removed only the largest, oldest fan leaves. Some may disagree with this maneuver, but I feel light penetration and air flow are of the utmost importance, and if some leaves must be removed to achieve that, then so be it. I will be flipping them to flower in a week or so, and i will give them an extensive defoliation the day before flip.

Lastly, I LST'd them today. I tied down the top colas for a more even canopy. I did this only for the 2 right plants, as they are taller than the 2 on the left (purple chem is the 2 on the left, Louis XIII on the right)

  4. And for anyone wondering, 26 days is the limit for 4x 5gals in the 2x2 tent. After that they start clumping into one another and need to be moved.

  6. Day 33 from seed

For the last few days, the 2 plants on the right were very light-stressed. The intensity of the HLG 600H is too much for them, so I dialed it down - its at 30% power, and the plants are improving a bit. Yesterday they looked worse. I might dim the light even further if I don't see signs of improvement. I want to flip them to flower in the next 2-3 days, but I can't if they are still stressed out.

I also gave them their first nutes yesterday - 1/4 strength of cal-mag and Botanicare Grow. I will continue to feed them on a feed-water-feed schedule

  7. Day 34 from seed

Dimming the lights seems to have done the trick. The plants are looking better. I will be flipping the lights tomorrow 20190618_123743.jpg

  14. How are you liking that HLG 600? I'm currently using a couple HLG saber 100s at about 130 watts. In a couple weeks I will be adding a hlg 320xl Rspec as well. Using the same nutrients as you as well.

I think the 600H is a fantastic light, but is overkill for a 4x4 tent. A 450W QB would be perfect for a 4x4. I'm gonna continue to run my 600H on 70-80% power. Also, on full power it runs hot, so you better have adequate airflow.

Right now, the light is at 70% power and is 22 inches away from the 2 bigger plants, and ~27 inches from the 2 smaller plants. I'm gonna raise it in a couple of days to 28 inches from canopy

  16. Day 10 of flower.

Defoliated my 2 plants a couple days ago, but the growth comes back very quickly. Gonna do my next (and final) defoliation in a week or so, when the stretch is coming to an end and buds have appeared.

  17. Day 14 of flower

Buds beginning to appear on all 3 except the bottom left. I've defoliated them 4 times since flipping the lights. I will defoliate one more time in about 3 days, when the stretch is coming to an end.

  18. Day 16 of flower

Moved the plants around because one of them randomly started drooping (no, it wasn't over/under watered). Moving them around seemed to do the trick for now.

3 of them are now fully budding, the smallest one (top right) looks like it will see buds in another 2 days. It's a depressingly small plant. I have no idea why it grew so small and bushy. I guess it's the strain because the other of my plants grew short as well (both short plants are Purple Chem)

I've also been continuing to defoliate. I will defoliate one more time in a couple of days, as the stretch comes to an end

  19. Day 20 of flower

They are doing good. I propped the 2 smaller plants to even out the canopy a bit
