I have a great job at a hospital with great pay and hours. I really like what I do there (respiratory therapy), mainly from the satisfaction I get helping others. But when I'm really in my element is when I'm using my hands. I've recently gotten very interested in cooking and prepare most all my meals now from scratch (which isn't as hard as it sounds!). I get to use my hands to create whatever it is I want to eat and I can get creative when adding/mixing to my recipe. I'm thinking about picking up woodworking and building some furniture on my days off ( I work 36 hours a week) to fulfill my desire to design/build/create. I'd like to eventually make some good enough pieces that others might be interested in buying them. I've grown tired of my xbox, television, even most radio stations, to keep me occupied. I'm 24 and I'm not satisfied with 'tuning out'. So I'm making a change and I'm going to hit the streets of the city and not let my fear keep me from really living my life the way I want. No more wasting away inside smoking, drinking, watching porn. I'm going to make my mark on this place!
I will tell you as an avid cooker that it is one of the best skills you can pick up. I love to cook, I'll try to cook something new every so often just to keep expanding the dishes I can make. I also am extremely handy with my hands, carpentry being one of my best skills. If you get the chance you learn, I highly recommend picking this skill up. The level of difficulty can range from easy, to extremely hard depending what you're trying to do. Such a rewarding skill. How dope would it be to have build much of your own furniture, hell even your own house if you ever decided to progress your skill that far. No knowledge is ever wasteful, get it done. I really like your mindset, self improvement is key. I have done lots of cabinet building as well as framing and it is very rewarding once you have the finished product. If you have a decent workplace and set of tools, the possibilities are endless
