Okay so I drove a coupla blocks to a local gas station today and some dude asked me for a ride. I told him no, but I was polite about. Not to say that profiling people is good but he just did not look like somebody that I wanted to have in my car. I mean he was a big dude and looked kinda scuzzy and I was scared of him if you wanna know the truth. I'm tall but pretty weak and skinny and kinda a pacifist, never been in a real fight in my life (go ahead call me a pussy or whatever I just dont like getting physical). I mean if he wanted to say take my car or rob me he would have had no problem at all if you know what I mean. So my thought process was whatever you do don't let that guy in your car. He was fake friendly too, like he wanted something you know he said hi to me before I went in then after I bought my cigs he said "Hey slim you heading that way". I told him I was going the opposite direction but I lied. Anyways I was gonna make a poll but I really don't like them... So anybody have any similar experiences or what do you guys think about picking up hitchhikers or what not?
I hitchhike for two weeks. It was fun, got couple rides, all from fellow stoners. It wasn't bad as it might sound, but some people aren't to be trusted. Of course alot of walking. I was really carefull who I got rides from. I've picked up couple before. I wouldn't sugest the timid hitchhike or pick someone up. It's not the safest thing to do, but the feeling afterwards was worth for me.
I think it would be funny to pick someone up after smokin like a 4+ gram blunt (windows up) with a half empty 26 of rum in the cup holder. Just imagine what their reaction would be.
Hitchhiking is different in every country, I guess....back in Germany we used to hike all the time...from I was 15, we hiked everywhere, even on vacation. Pretty easy to get picked up, even in the middle of the night. In France, it's pretty easy. In Ireland you can see whole families hiking together. Up here in Norway it's horrible. You stand there for hours and don't get a lift. Guess it's a culture thing. I always pick up hitchhikers. Of course I take a good look at'em before I pick'em up, but I still haven't refused anyone a ride. I don't have anything of vavlue that could be stolen.
As a rule, I never pick people up. I'd at least have to see em around or hear about em. Never know.... Somebody could jack you up, or worse put a hole in your upholstery you paid so much for lol.
my dad hitchhiked everywhere he went from 17-22, in america he did get kidnapped one of the times though...
ctoker, you are no pussy. I only pick up people if I've seen their car down the street broken down and their are children involved. I've taken people home from the grocery store waiting for their cab, that never came. But an actual hitchhiker... I dunno. If my husband were in the car I probably would; if not - no. I wouldn't be as leary outside of the U.S.
