Hippie

Discussion in 'Seasoned Marijuana Users' started by afhottieprep, Jan 31, 2006.

  1. After reading the 'Stoner vs. Pothead' thread, I wanted to see what kind of definition a person thinks a hippie is today. I want to see everyone's opinion before I say my imput.

  2. A hippy is a cross between stoner and pothead, but more towards the pothead side.

  3. When i think of hippy I picture a person with long hair. smokes alot of weed, really really chilled out and mellow, very peaceful, and maybe do some other drugs sometimes...maybe acid, or whatever

  4. By the technical definition it's a person that rejects established culture; advocates extreme liberalism in politics and lifestyle.

By the Government's definition, it's a dirty long haired punk who smokes pot, lol.

  5. ME:) i am a hippy i would say the dont just smoke the herb to get high but for spitural reasons too..i love to have a fat sack in my hands and smell the goodlyness of it...a hippie would also be a mellowed out stoner, who loves everyone and everything...:)

  6. Hmm...

Concerned with the environment, enthousiastic about healthy living and the rejection of chemical adulterants in food. Untrusting of technology and certain branches of science.

Love of the bohemian lifestyle. Usually pretty ecclectic in personality and fashion sense. Love of music and art. Puts a lot of value in the "open-mind". Often have tendencies towards eastern spiritual traditions like yoga or meditation.

And dreadlocks. Endless dreadlocks and drum circles.

Obviously it's just a silly label, but that's an accurate description of a lot of my friends... and my friends are a bunch of god damn hippies ;)

The photo itself smells of curry and sandlewood! And yes that's a Toyota Echo.

  7. They're usualy from the 60's so they're pretty old. Theres a different type of hippie

    now adays..

  8. AndyPL nailed it. And bananas are the shit.

  9. im a neohippy

i bathe, wear clean clothes, but i also like to listen to grateful dead, and phish, and other hippy type music, im pretty chill, somethimes rock the tie dye shirts, and flipflops year round, and yes i do smoke pot.

  10. Amen to that, brother. totally with you man, i'm a hippie at heart, but on the outside, i'm just an extraordinarily handsome, stylish dude. ahaha.

but seriously, my dad was a total hippie in the 60s and 70s, and i've completely inherited his each and every take on life, nature, and all things around us. i'm very mellow, i go into relationships and meeting new people with a very opened mind-- i don't judge them at all by physical appearance, and will love them for who they are unless they do something to give me reason to do otherwise. i conserve all the energy and resources that i can. i recycle anything and everything that i can, and i have very strong feelings about how ungreatful most of the human race seems to be for our planet. i love nothing more than getting stoned and laying out in a grass covered field under the sun with some of my buddies. i live life calmly, and very relaxed. i don't worry too much about anything, and i don't let myself stress out about the little things in life. i'm very gentle, and i love animals-- so much in fact that i don't like going to zoo, or seeing caged/tanked pets. i can handle it, but i don't like seeing it, because i don't like to think about it. you guys get the idea-- this is just who i am.

  11. oh you kids and your detrimental social labels.

  12. I don't think how someone dresses or if they smoke weed makes them a hippie. Being a hippie is more about thought, and the rejection of modern society...That's why another name for the Hippie movement is the counterculture.

  13. I dont like new age hippies. 60's 70's war in vietnam hippies

now they were the shit man

  14. tru dat

  15. Dead on.

Your comment about the photo smelling of curry and sandlewood made me chuckle.

By the way, I like the way you write; very concise and well spoken. (I've seen you in a few other threads that escape me at the moment)

And bannanas are the shit, I've know a kid that fiends for bannanas after he's been puffing. He eats them like a pornstar (deep-throats, and then swallows)

    Peace, love and happiness

    Mike

  16. true dat, he was helpful to me too, he is the man

  17. I consider myself an evolved hippie but not because of anything anyone said other than IndianaToker. I kinda think it goes without saying in my regard, really. And it has nothing whatsoever to do with butt sweat or pachouli. :smoking:
