High Idea that has to do with politics

  1. Hey gc, so i am a freshman in college and i have been looking at life lately with a bunch of questions.

I realized that in the US we do NOT have the freedom of speech. The definition of freedom is: The power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or RESTRAINT. (I'm not saying that i would rather be anywhere else than here. its just an observation i had. living in the US does have its percs.)

We are taught at a very young age that we are in a free country. We grow up thinking that the US is some mega world power. that we are the best country of all. But we are full of corrupt politics and crooks. In a democracy the people are supposed to be the highest authority.

I had a high idea, that idea was that we have no freedom of speech. We do when were are accompanied by no one. When we are an individual, we have the freedom of speech, we do because they know our voice will not be heard. When you have followers, when you have people who believe in your word besides the government, thats when your rights of freedom of speech will be taken away. (remember this is all a high idea). I looked for examples to go along with my idea and all i could find was The Occupy Movement. People who performed Peaceful protest were subject to police brutality. People who were exercising their right of freedom of speech were shut down by law enforcement. That just makes me sick.

Another example is the marijuana prohibition movement. I could talk forever about this but I'm not going to. This is one of the largest movements in America. And it seems like it is not heard by the people who can make a difference in this problem.

Sparknotes: As one, individual, alone person we have freedom of speech, but will never be heard. As a group/movement your word will be heard but freedom of speech will be taken away. (High idea)

Most of the Bill of Rights doesn't exist anymore. The only thing they haven't done yet is quarter troops in peoples houses and that won't be long.

Jullian Assange, the wikileaks founder is a great example of what happens to free speech when it has the potential to impact the politically elite.

As if anyone here needed any more proof..

  5. No doubt that the marijuana movement has been heard by people, but it hasn't been heard by the right people. The right people are the ones that don't give a shit about the polls. We have made some advances, i agree with that. The 16 mmj states is a wonderful accomplishment. But its only going to count when our country as a whole, federal and state, come to an agreement on marijuana. If its only accepted on a state level throughout the country, there will be a REAL war on drugs, federal v. state, civil war type shit. I am hoping it never gets to that.
