High-dosage Cannabinoid Therapy

Discussion in 'Medical Marijuana Usage and Applications' started by drbot, Oct 15, 2012.

  1. Good evening all. Hope you are all in great spirits tonight and enjoying the herb and all its blessings.

I have started slipping back into a serious depression over the last week or so. Despite my best efforts at treating my bipolar disorder with psychiatric medications and frequent therapy, I still cycle pretty heavily between hypomania and depression. The cycles are very predictable, and I knew one was coming, especially with the current strife in my personal life I am dealing with.

I have experimented in the past with very high-dosage cannabinoid therapy, and I have found that it prevents me from sinking into the really serious abyss of depression. I tend to get racing, intrusive thoughts of suicide, and the herb keeps me from experiencing this very uncomfortable and potentially dangerous state of mind.

I use a combination of edibles and smoking to achieve this, since I really don't want to smoke that much herb (hurts the lungs after awhile). I started out the day taking six bong hits of Silver Haze and eating a very potent Cannabis cookie my wife made. I followed up late morning with a joint of Tahoe OG, took bubbler hits of Space Dawg in the late afternoon, and just took a few more bong hits after dinner. I'm about to eat another cookie and plan on smoking hash tonight.

I am curious if others out there have found that high doses of Cannabis provide therapeutic effects where more moderate doses do not. Any of you GC's out there practice this type of therapy?

  2. I some times use cannabis for occasional depression with the approval and blessings of my Psychiatrist. It is the only antidepressant he can get me to take. I call it high dose when I do, at least it is higher than the background dose I use for Asthma.

    Be well, we care.
