Back in the day I remember people being concerned that the power company keeps track of HID startup spikes so as to determine faulty street lights, and that they could pin it down to a specific neighborhood, and finally with a bit more effort, to the house. Is this a real concern? What equipment would one use to suppress the start up spike from two 400 watt HID lamps?
nobody is responding but I'm sure the right people are reading this so let me drop this possible clue that I remember 'back in the day' that the recomendation was to use computer equipment 'uninteruptable power supply' to absorb the start up signature. Well I have one and it isn't working with the HID system. Any thoughts? Is this a worry? If a guy was paranoid how would he quarrantee his 'spike privacy'?
Sorry can't help, I'm fortunately in the UK and quite frankly the police couldn't give a shit of going to that much effort! good luck
