Hi Peeps. I've been lurking a bit reading all your brilliant advice on what to buy and stufff - thanks everyone - been enjoying myself here . After 20 years a smokin I've decided to grow a little personal supply, sick of spending big bucks on little deals So - I bought some White Widow seeds, and I'm trying to decide what and where etc. Budgets not too tight, but don't have too much to spend, got plenty of space. I'm going to start a Journal once I get up and running, but before I start I was hoping to have some advice from people here on my plans, so here goes.... I was thinking of buying the following stuff: 125 Watt blue envirolight CFL 125 Watt red envirolight CFL 5L planting pot with multipurpose compost and some plant feeder lampholders reflectors etc... I plan to use my back bedroom which does not get much use for anything else. (About 10 foot by 12 foot) I was just going to propergate then plant out in the back room with the blue light and see how it goes. I was going to try 2 plants first to see how I get on. Will this be enough light? There is lots of natural light in the room already... I could use a cupboard, but would need to clear one out - is there any advantage doing it that way? I like the idea of having low temp lights, could probably add another if you think it is needed? I was going to use soil to make them easily portable - could move them to the garage if the parents come over...... I'd love to hear your comments on my proposed setup.... Once I have everything I need I'll take some pics and do a journal, that sounds like fun too! Thanks for reading,
i am pretty much using the exact same set up as you . just probably bigger plant pots .. i am only growing 1 plant but i got a 125w enviro with reflector .. seems more than enuff for 1 plant so should easyly do 2 .. my plant has just started budding
Thanks - appreciate the help I feel a bit more comfortable now. I didn't want to set it all up and then have someone say "That'll never work..." Spose I'd better get on and order the gear! Nice one! Cheers
where to begin....... Yes you will need alot more light... a few bulbs per plant if you plan on using the CFL's throughout the entire grow. If you have a bit of money can i suggest a 400W HPS/MH switchable lighting sytstem. And two bulbs. One MH and one HPS. This way you can use your MH (blue/white light) during the veg stage, and the HPS (orange/amber light) during the FLowering stage. You will have a massive difference in end yield if you use that type of lighting set-up. you can get hps systems as 70w/150W/250W/400W/600W/1000W - so depending on your space and no. of plants. No sure if all these watt amount are available in a switchable HPS/MH system. I use a wardrobe, mainly because i rent and can't do anything to the walls or ceiling. If you have the space for a whole room, thats much better as long as you conceal the light leaks out the windows... Wardrobe is good for stealth, if anyone comes over i just turn my fans off and you can't hear or see or smell anything, to the untrained eye it's just a cupboard full of clothes. Start with organic soil...no nutes. Plant in the biggest pot you can. ...and good luck
Thanks Homegrower. I think for a first grow the cheaper CFL is all I can get past the bank manager at the moment. (aka The Wife!). Once she has sampled it I'm sure I will be able to add to the setup for the next one though. Devilish planning afoot..... I'm going to use the back bedroom, we don't use it for anything else - it's quiet arround here, not too woried about the light getting out. I've got the seeds and soil, so plan to get started this weekend. Lights are on order, I expect they will be here early next week. I've got a ph testing kit, but no idea what to do if the soil isn't right - I'll cross that bridge if I get there! Cheers,
