Hey blades, what is this car worth? (e30)

  1. I might be considering buying a project car to make a daily driver. This doesn't look bad, I'm jw what I should offer the guy.

    91 BMW 318 is

The a/c also doesnt work, owner claims it needs a recharge. All the maintenance has been up to date.

    Thanks

  2. I'd offer him 800.

I think 13 is a little too much. The car is over 20 years old and has almost 200k on it. 8 would be fair especially with no radio or ac.

  3. Ok thanks, I'd like to get the radio working. I'm not sure if he means radio like the antenna, or the whole head unit. I'd have to ask. I'm also not sure what I'd need to do to fix it.

  4. Idk either.

Also I just wanna let you know I'm by no means a car guy. I don't really know what that car is worth but I'd pay around 8. Maybe a little more if I drove it and it ran really well.

  5. Doesn't look terrible, I see a bit of rust, but overall it seems to be in good condition especially nice that he's already replaced the clutch, brakes and tires. I'd definitely get someone who knows a lot about cars to take a little test drive with you and check it out thoroughly. Make sure the tranny and suspension still have plenty of life in them, then I'd start low and probably offer up to a grand for it if it really does run perfectly.

  6. I would take 750 cash an wave it infront of him. Point out everything that is wrong and everything you will have to fix.

Don't go in there asking him what the radio needs, likely he doesn't know and that's why it wasn't fixed yet.

  7. Not to mention if your not mechanically inclined a BMW is a questionable pick unless you have no problem spending more on parts and labor if something is or does go wrong. I love the 3 series in general they are just a PITA to maintain. low ball him. I agree with 750 to start the offer.

  8. Yeah, he seemed like he had no clue what was up.

This would be my 2nd e30. I know they can be tricky to maintain. I'd do most of the work myself or with my mechanic buddy. I'm still on the edge about it. I'll at least go and check it out and see what it has to offer. Give the ol' not really interested and just shooting an offer and see where that lands me.

From the pics it looks like it has a different front clip, the way the fender meets the door and the color difference....I would be wary of this car, may have been wrecked...get him to send you some pics of the full side views and rear view...makes me suspicious when pics are cropped to just show partial views....

  10. $1000.00 is what it's worth.

  11. I noticed that too. One part is just too white. Might just say fk it and pass it up.

  12. Kelly Blue Book it

  13. bimmerforums.com <-- Ask there.

I also notice you're from CT, haha nice.

  14. depending on other examples in the area, that could be worth $1300. i would definitely ask about the front end, why the paint is so bright there but the rest so dull. and thoroughly inspect it for rust, in the trunk especially. not sure if the late model 318's battery is in the trunk, 325's are but my early model 318's isn't. check around the license plate lights for rust.

as far as mileage goes, as long as the car was/remains properly maintained, it has lots of life left in it.

  15. Id go in with 600 bucks. Tell him thts all you got. More than likely hell take it

  16. Actually just checked it out. Needed a few things besides what was mentioned in the ad, but I told him I wasn't going to make an offer. I want a dd that didn't need much to be 100%, and this needed tlc. But the guy was cool as hell and had nothing to hide. Well, on to the next one

    Thanks everyone for your inputs.

  17. Should have atleast lowballed the fuck outta him. Always throw a ridiculously low number before you leave.

  18. E30s all day man, im liking the new clutch, thats worth alone 300 bucks

  19. rust rust rust = bad bad bad
with the amount of rust on that car, and with the miles, poor quality of the interior and likely everything not shown/talked about in the ad, id over 750, max, and try to bargin a little from there, may 800 or so, but not 1k, never.
