hermie worth while???

  1. Heya folks, I found a plant in my garden that's about 2ish weeks into flowering and seems to be growing plenty of hairs and forming small buds but while i was inspecting it last night i saw the early formation of a couple/few ball sacks. Rather than just kill it off, i very carefully just removed the couple/few that i saw which weren't at the top anyhow. Can i expect to find more? is it definite? Is it worth my while trying to just remove them as they appear?

  2. I would try removing them with sterile tools. Expect that this might put your plant into shock and could slow down growth. If successful though you will end up with a sensimilla crop.

I had two plants going and one was female and the other turned out to be hermie. Chopped the herm plant to preserve the female but since you said you only have one I'd go ahead and try chopping the nuts and growing it out the best you can.

Please keep up to date interested to see how it will turn out!

  3. the lights just came on and i don't see any new balls as of yet. I will it closely monitor it and post what i find. Seems like I had this happen years ago (1st time growing in over 10 years) and tried to just chop them as they appeared but they ended up getting outta control and I ended up chopping it.

  4. I got pics coming soon of some proof positive that you really shouldnt even worry about the balls...

Had this happen with some known herm crosses in early flower and killed off like 6 plants, then decided to just pull them off on a couple. one of those two i left turned into the most impressive cola in the garden and the other is nice too... truly unbelievable nuggetry.

im going to post up my staggered harvest in this section, so keep an eye out and see what that herm can do.

  5. I had a hermie and I picked off the balls but because of the size I was not able to find all of them and it fucked up the lower half of my plants. It could destroy every plant near it if your not careful and the seeds are total garbage since they'll also hermie. Be very careful. Once they start producing seeds all bud production goes down the shitter

  6. yea i missed just one flower and it fucked up the bottom buds on like 4 plants but i just clipped them and let things rock... a long flower time helped make up for loss there i think as im on day 84 now and still a week or so out on most of them, but the top nugs stayed sensimilla aside from one or two stray seeds which i can clearly see busting out of the buds where they are because they were fertilized 7 weeks ago or more. All chunkage is sensimilla.

Im not saying its ideal lol, but if you can keep a close eye on every plant (which you can if you only have one or two) then you wont miss any... i missed one because i was away for 5 days and it had time to form and open between waters... i did see the opened flower when i checked the next watering. Point being, after this transition period they were all female... no nanners and no new male flowers, and super insane dank bud. So im just saying its not "chop that thing right now cus its useless" like most people say. Especially if its the only thing you are growing.

  7. The male flowers can keep on growing in and around the buds as they swell up, so you might not be able to successfully finish the grow.

  8. yeah so true and a real pain in the ass to contend with. if the male flowers don't show up in the female buds you can keep them chopped back, but if they mix with the female buds you're screwed unfortunately OP.

  9. just got done tending to the girls and still no new balls since i found the 1st ones like 3 days ago. Definitely not gonna kill it off and see if i can't just keep a careful eye on her. on a side note....when do you start counting the days of flowering? from when you switch the lights to 12/12 or when they've truely identified themselves as male/female?

  10. Couple pics of the best plant i had to pull balls off... It is a juicy fruit mother and a "train wreck" (probably not clone version) herm father. I had a power outage about 20 days into flower and a bunch of them sprouted balls... like i said i killed off like 6 of them but this one i just picked 5 or so balls of of, and im glad i kept it. Going to do a staggered harvest of 22 of these babies if anyone is interested. If your herm is completely genetic, meaning not predisposed to herming, but in fact a true diocious plant, which can happen, then you are just boned... if it threw off some male flowers from shock in the lower branches mostly separate from the buds, then pick em off and move on.

Anyways, herm cross #7 JF x TW:

  11. lol.
    ball sacks.

  12. The plants I had that popped some balls continued to pop balls and eventually spread all the way to the top and had to be discarded. Had 3 of them do it. They'd start out looking female sprouting hairs everywhere and eventually there would be balls with hairs growing through them. I plucked them off at first, but the more I plucked them off the more they'd spread. I killed them before anything got pollenated though. At least I am pretty sure I did.
