My plant is 5 weeks into flower, outdoor grow in a greenhouse. It has developed what look like swollen calyxes, but I'm unsure whether or not it has developed hermie traits. Should I chop now? I have no other plants, so no chance of pollination of other flowers. Thanks in advance!!
Sorry but Chop love and start again. Clean down ya green house b4 ya start next grow cos ya dont want any lingering pollen etc on ya new female . Good luck xx
Revising my earlier statement. The pics weren't loading at full resolution for some reason. Be kind. Perfect your craft. Give more than you take. We are family.
Hi lv. Only cud see ought by first big pic. The 3 file pics ya cant see. Either way it dunt look good bless him. Wat ever it is . ..It is not going to be top self. But ive been there too wi a male i popped pollen sacks wen removing and it pollinated all my females and its shit ...hopefully trichomocheck will have a nice plant next time. xxx
Hi mook 2027. Guy sed only one plant so presumed male at first but i av heard a male can pollinate females upto a 2 mile radius depending on wind etc. Im in north of uk so not many outdoor grows over here due to climate but in usa there are lots.. so do they get pollenited sometimes by a male nearly upto mile away???? Im just curious but other plants and trees etc get pollenated nateraly in wild by wind so i suppose it cud be true. Just alot of outdoor griwers in usa so is wind pollination a thing that happens alot? Just wondered... thought u wud be a good person to ask due to ya knowledge . Sorry if seems a silly question . But uk indoor growers never had to think about it and no one over ere can answer my question. Thanks lv xxx
I missed the one plant part. I've never heard of a long distance fert like that, but pollen is built to travel. I've only done one outside grow and it got fertilized, but by a local plant. Be kind. Perfect your craft. Give more than you take. We are family.
We need a long timer to chime in on this. I've seen males and fem in person, but never herms. Some of those clusters do look like male flowers to me, but again limited experience in this area. Be kind. Perfect your craft. Give more than you take. We are family.
Thank you for all you replies! This is a close up pic of the growth that worries me. Not all of the buds on the plant look like this, but they have not fattened up as much as I would have expected by this stage. I'm in Australia and it has experienced stress through some weeks when temperatures exceeded 40•C (104•F) in summer. It's in a shaded greenhouse, but signs of heat stress occurred.
Hi. Strange ... if a female is producing seeds then her energy70%ish i think) is used to create seeds so her buds size suffer. Again not sure if it helps as im not used to seein things like this. Only seen wen an unseen male pollenated all my other plants a few yrs ago. but all plants were effected not a part of one?? I wood still cut my losses and try again. Or just see wat happens but dont think ya will get much off her if ought.. good luck any way xxxx
Mad thought but has heat shocked it into a hermie ??? Not into genetics and stuff and prob a silly thing to say but who knows love xxx
I think you could be correct. Stress can cause cannabis plants to turn hermie as a last ditch effort to propagate. I hope somebody can recognise the symptoms!
Also, I should add that I have opened some of the calyx like structures and have not found seeds or pollen inside.
Damn. Those could be female pre-flowers. Be kind. Perfect your craft. Give more than you take. We are family.
Female pre-flowers have hairs as yours seem to. The males don't. I think you should let it ride. Be kind. Perfect your craft. Give more than you take. We are family.
Thanks! I suspected that they were female pre flowers, but I kept googling pictures of hermies and found some growth that look similar in some pics, which got me worried. I'll let you all know how I went once she's done
I don't see any evidence of male flowers in any of those pics. The structure is lanky because of the warm environment and IMO it looks like you've had some dark period interruptions. Is this greenhouse near any lights from the house that may be hitting it? I'd make sure they got total darkness for however long you keep them. The oddly shaped 1 bladed leaves and the elongated stems on them is a dead giveaway the light cycle is not right.
Damn wish I knew which you were talking about that's great attention to detail nonfiction's multi-strain grow
