Last year, I collected about 50 seeds from a bag of shit weed. These seeds seem to lean very heavily towards being male (so far, 9 out of 13 seeds came up male). Out of the 4 plants that came up female, 3 of them hermied. The ONLY plant that didn't hermie was flowered in a chamber that wasn't even close to light proof (direct light from CFL was shining into the chamber). I've read in other threads, that seeds from a self-pollinated hermie tend to be hermies... is this true? Can I chalk this up to genetics, or do I need to take a closer look at the environment? I've got some WW and Haze/Skunk plants started, hopefully they'll do better. Thanks for any input anyone can provide...
I mean yes it could be genetics. You are right in the assumption that all seeds from hemie plants will carry the trait to turn hermie. That being said without any knowledge of your growing condition its hard to say if you have stressed your plants enough with light leaks, bad watering schedules/ practices etc. There are tons of things in the environment that can lead to hermie. Hope this helps
