hermaphrodite?

  1. good day all,

I was just wondering if someone could help me out a bit by telling me if this white widow was a hermaphrodite....

we've chopped it down now, but we found these on the lower branchs..

    thanks in advance

  2. looks like it to me ......but im no expert

  3. Are these seed pods??

we havn't found anything that looks like a yellow banana

does a female (non hermaphrodite) produce seed pods??? or does a plant have to be a hermi to produce seed pods???

    thanks

  4. Looks like seed pods and ones that have been pollinated, smoke the weed and keep the seeds, Hey were those grown from regular seeds and did you have a male in there?

  5. they were feminised seeds and there was no male in there

I'm confused because we cant find any male parts, male balls dont have pistils do they??

  6. Those are seed pods for sure. Femmed plants have a much higher percentage of turning hermi. Even if there were only a couple balls on one plant, they could polinate quite a bit of ur bud.

I'm sure its still good smoke, and now you have yourself some more seeds.

Are the seed pods all over, or just on that branch??

  7. they're pretty much just on that branch, there may be a couple of pods on another branch, but we've got a nice load of bud, its quite minimal really and like I say we've choppped it down now as it was ready to harvest.

thanks for all your replies :)

  8. Good evening all,

I dont suppose anyone can answer this question

    thanks

  9. say no more.
no such thing as feminised seeds - what u paid thru the nose for are Hermaphrodised seeds.
    stick to regulars.

All female buds produce what is called false seed pods. They look like seed pods but they are empty. What you have shown there is a female plant fertilized by a male plant. I see no male sex pods indicating it is NOT a hermie. I disagree about the feminized seeds; they don't necessarily have any higher likelihood of turning hermie than a regular seed. However, there are some strains that are more apt to hermie than others. If you have good genetics in feminized seeds, they should be 99.98% female; all hermies would be from user error such as over pruning, light leaks etc.

  11. Oh really? Please explain what you mean.

  12. toasty,
How many times have we heard this? Too many hermie myths out there.

  13. take a look over on dutch passion's webby - read their history of feminised seeds.
everyone i know (last yr) who grew with dp fem seeds had hermies.
they admit that 90% of their feminised seeds will show hermie traits, but say very few develop seeds.
b/s i say - if u don't believe me, waste ur hard earned on a pack of dp fems & see for urself.
they have a terrible reputation atm - femaleseeds.nl are not far behind....

i been growing for fkin years & have never managed to force a hermie from regulars, but with fem seeds ur almost guaranteed hermies late in flower, regardless of how good ur grow method or how stable ur environment is.

not interested in theories & pasted text - personal experience is enough proof for me.
I genuinely feel sorry for new growers who think fem seeds will ensure them a good crop.

but saying that, my comments won't sway anyone's decision to buy fems - especially when u have supposedly experienced growers stating that fem seeds are great.
Let them post up pics of their fkt up plants in a few mth & don't say i didn't warn u ;)

  14. OK, I looked. Their history is about an experiment they did 8 years ago, it is not the history of feminized seeds. And your comments are about DP seeds specifically. So whatever DP's experience, that's not necessarily the same as other breeders.

And if DP thinks femmed seeds are bad, why are they still producing and selling them?

I have grown femmed seeds without hermies, just not DP femmed seeds so can't comment on them. But clearly DP's experiences don't represent all femmed seeds.

  15. I gotta say, From my limited experience with femmed seeds(I did it myself) that mine preformed admirably well. I think most have seen my grow so I won't put a link in. As far as saying there like the greatest, I don't think anyone is saying femmed seeds are better, just better in some circumstances. If I can only grow 1 or 2 plants I really want to be sure to get a lady, wouldn't you. Even if it hermies the grower will still get bud, I seen a poor guy who planted 12 regular seeds out of the 20 seeds he had and all were male. I'll bet he wish he had bought femmed seeds.

Sorry got sided tracked, Just cause you can't find the bannana doesn't mean there isn't one, the fact that you have seeds say it has been pollenated and unless you've had a male plant in there in the past and didn't clean after your grow then your plant had a limited hermie occurence most likely caused by a light leak.(the single branch kinda gives that one away).

  16. Ok thanks guys :)

We had an idea it might be a light leak, we've sorted that out now, so here goes the next lot :D

    thanks again
