hermaphrodite question

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Outdoors' started by antarchy, Aug 26, 2006.

  1. I think I Got a hermaphrodite. It's flowering but has sacks like my males. I know they make all female seeds with hermaphrodites. But will a natural one make all female?

  2. the bud is getting frustrated when it doesn't get polinated (just like the old lady), that's why it increases the size of the hairs. but after enough time, all females will create it's own polin sacks.(girls gotta do what....)

  3. Are you saying ALL girls become hermies??

No, that is not the case, most females by far REMAIN females.

I am amazed at the number of people who post on here who have obviously never grown any MJ at all.

  4. you're right fly, i have no business posting any comments. it has been 40 years since my last grow, and things have changed alot.
when i planted my 2 seeds in april, i couldn't believe how big and fast those hybrid puppies grew.
i have seen your comments and advise, and believe them to be accurate and concise. in the future i will refrain from any comments.
i do, however, believe my premise of the biological reaction of sex started females to be correct. i will do additional research on the subject.
my two girls started budding several weeks ago and i will post a thread with pictures and would appreciate any comments/advise (gotta figuere out how to do it first!)

  5. I don't really understand what you are saying about all female seeds with a herm... Hermaphrodites themselves produce seeds that are 50% female 50% herm. The way to do it is pollinate a straight female plant with a hermaphrodite then u get close to 95% female seeds. But if u don't want seeds then I would move the hermaphrodite far away from the females and try to pick off all the sacs as you see the them and it will allow the plant's buds to grow as big as they can untill they get pollinated then u still have some buds, if u don't care then get rid of it right away.

  6. so the hermi should be allowed to pollinate a female if I want 100% female seeds. Is there a consensus on this? Thanks Doober

  7. wow i must have 1 mafrodie myself

sorry bout spelling dudes im very educated

but soo stoned soo stoned guys:D

    sorry

  8. Stress related sex problems MIGHT produce hermaphrodite
plants. The stress of what is sometimes called "early flowering" (it is
not really early flowering, there is no such thing as early flowering.
We will explain this in a moment) triggers the plant into a situation
where it thinks that its chances of reproduction are slim to none. That
situation is a condition called - 'self-pollination'. It does this by
producing both male and female flowers on the same plant. The male
flowers then pollinate the female flowers which will eventually
produce seeds. The reason for this is that the plant notices that the
photoperiod is irregular and that it should no longer be in the
vegetative cycle but in flowering. This shocks the plant into a last
ditch effort to receive pollen because it feels that it has missed its
    chance to receive pollen already

  9. That came from the cannabis grow bible so that might have been what he meant by all females turn hermi he should have said Under the right conditions they turn hermi.
