hermaphrodite plants

  1. I am growing three plants from feminised seeds. All three would appear to be hermaphrodites, they are 4 weeks into flower at first they appeared to be female but in the last week they have taken on male from also. Can I still flower them to get a harvest or should I give them the chop.

  2. not to say i told u so, so... lets just call it a biology lesson. dont f with mom nature! didnt u watch Jerasic Park?

u can grow them out if u care, they will put on some weight. altho the weight might be seeds. yes, it may seed itself out pretty dense. but the real problem is what is left behind after all the loving is done.

if ur a pro and are interested in prodigy, u will sterilize the whole of the area. pollen can linger for a while.

also, when someone says they went hermi, i also tend to wanna make sure that there is not a lighting issue. i would make sure there isnt cycle light interuption. even a time or two can set em off running male.

another issue that i have with fem'ed seeds is that i find that the % of seeds that i buy and produce is typically 60+% female anyhow. dont ask me how but i could imagine that we are putting selective pressures on males and that the gene pool of MJ has gone dominately feminine. but the moral of it is that i dont find that i need to buy fem'ed seeds cuz its about 2/1 fem anyhow. even if it isnt, males are easy to spot in ur little home garden, but hermi's arnt. which brings me to my next point, hermi should be bred out at all costs, especially to indoor gardners all over the world.

lastly, lets revisit the feminized issue proper. its more expensive which sux. its f'ing with mom nature which is usually a bad idea. if u search backwards on this issue, happens more often than its worth. your polluting the gene pool. and oh yea, its like putting chemicals on your baby. u wanna smoke a baby that has sterodial feminizing agents all over it?

    anywho...that is my take.

  3. Thanks Froggy for your reply I have done the dirty deed and cut them down and cleaned the area. It was strange to see three six foot high plants cut down to nothing almost heartbreaking.

  4. i have a problem myself, concerning the likes...

my two plants, in one bucket,,, about 3/4 done with flowering.
i chopped and tested a bud couple days ago.
i found a seed, tucked away within my plant.

both plants look total female, their all buds! i've seen no 'balls' on either.

the only other option, they may have come in contact with some seedlings about 2 weeks old., surely the 2 week olds havent done this?

    what causes it?
am i not seeing the male parts? i doubt it, i only stare at my plants like it's a computer screen.
