The original hempy method was always to hand water from the top. Was there a specific reason you wanted to use the feeding tube connected to the bottom?
No not really it was just easier at the time to hook up to and flip a switch then using my back to crawl through a bunch of foliage. It was much easier other than dealing with the tubing for airlines and the original initial set up.
