WHAT"S GOOD GC!?!? Let me start by saying, up until recently, I had verrrry little knowledge on growing, so be kind... Let me try to catch you up to where I am now... As of right now, I have 3 plants going. 1 is a clone from a DISPENSARY LA CONFIDENTIAL FEMALE...(about a month old?) 2 sprouts from random medicinal bagseed (about 3 -4 days old. I have 1 closet I am using right now, with 4 42w/2600k CFL bulbs doing their thing. JUNE 4 I also have a fan providing the gentle breeze. here are some shots from JUNE 8 here's a good shot at the progress of the 2 sprouts from JUNE 8... As of now I am very worried that my LA CON will be gangraped by the two unknown strains/genders, but Ill take it a day at a time. So now here I am... i thought long and hard and decided to order a 400 Watt Electronic Ballast Hydroponic Grow Light Kit off ebay with an HPS bulb & MH bulb... I figure I should plenty of lights for VEgging + Flowering now... especially with only 1 legit plant so far. Ill have to decide between the 2 bulbs.. I still have a lot of research on using the HPS system, but I will be using the corner of a bedroom I don't use that is very secluded AS MY FLOWERING ROOM. I will hang the HPS bulb from a shelf I will make ASAP. I figure I will also throw some 2700 CFL's on the plant at that point as well. Here is a shot of the room... I will obviously have to tape some black garbage bags over the window... I figure if I decide to flower a couple more plants it will be way easier to ventilate in a room with a huge window... I went on a bit of a spending spree last night and also ordered a New Wave T5 High Output Fluorescent Grow Light 2ft 4 Lamp for my VEG room... How many 6500 CFL lights would go well with this? Right now I have 4. Too many? I REALLY appreciate any help ANYONE can provide.. the more info I get the better.. this is ALL A 1st FOR ME.. WORKING with a t5 setup for vegging and HID for flowering 1 - 2 plants at a time SCARES ME.. I can't wait for my flowering kit even though I won't be using it for awhile. hey guys.. so I got the T5 setup today.... I tried figuring out a way to hang it in my closet , and decided to switch closets down the hall... Much easier to hang in the new closet. THE OLD CLOSET THE NEW CLOSET I still have the 3 plants going... a month'ish old clone(named Suzie)... and 2 unknown sprouts(Elaine, Mulva). I hooked up the four old 42W 6500k CFL's for the sides, and also bought some mylar for reflection. My VEG room is finally looking like a VEG room... as ghetto as the setup is lol... How is everything looking so far? Im feeding nutes to the clone every 3 - 4 days or so... Im still looking ahead to the flowering room, but don't have to worry for awhile. Im also going to have to transplant out of these POTS, which is going to hard... any thoughts? THANKS GUYS!!!
hey guys, so it's been a week and here is the progress so far... Ive got the main LA CON clone in a 3 gallon pot in the middle... & Ive got 3 sprouts growing from unknown strain medicinal bag seeds... Im feeding nutes to the LA CON twice a week, and will gradually start the little sprouts.... All the lights are on a 18/4 scale. My 400 w hps setup arrived, but im waiting to set it all up at the flowering stage... AS ALWAYS, ANY ADVICE IS GREATLY APPRECIATED! SPROUT 1 SPROUT 2 SPROUT 3 I could definitely use better pots for the 2 sprouts on the right to maximize space but it's working for now....
You are doing great! You don't need to veg in the closet. Since you will need a space where you can control the light, you should start setting up the closet as your flower room. How ever you decide to create your flower room, keep in mind that you need plenty of ventilation to keep temps down while using hps. Keep up the good work!
Start mapping out your setup man. Don't just throw shit in there like I did. You gotta decide if you want a continuous grow or if you want to take it grow by grow. Figure out that ventilation situation too for sure! They look good! good luck
thanks a lot! I am now mapping out my flower room. I am planning on using my bedroom corner so I can easily ventilate next to the window. I am a little worried about using the T5 fixture and 400 w hps at the same time... anyone think it'll draw too much electricity?? Im in an apartment and my hydro is all inclusive. in 12 days I am going to swine flu central Mexico for a week... I have a close friend to come by & water the plants as often as he can.(he won't be able to make it every day)... I will also remove the side CFL's just leave the T5 fixture a little further from the plants so they don't jump to the lights while Im gone... any other grow tips people have used while going on vacation?
Are you just going to have the flowering plants open to your room? Or are they going to be closed into a corner or what.. Alright, so a friend of mine is gone every Friday through monday and he uses these aquaglobes.. Swears by them.. I've never used 'em but he says they're great. Exactly how many days will you be gone? those look very interesting, thanks a lot!! I will be gone for 7 days exactly. I plan on cornering the room off with black garbage bag plastic.... I dont even use the room so this would just be for EXTRA light & smell security...I honestly think a fan & open window will do the trick for ventilation as the smell has quite a long way to go before it gets out into my apartment...
Ahhh, nice. I was thinkin' it was your room, was gonna try and steer you clear of that. Your grow has A LOT of potential with that T5 and the 400w. You can do great things man!
hey everyone!!! so im back from my week vacay and my plants are still kicking along. I am quite sure my 3 sprouts are SKUNK #1 at this point tracing back my bagseeds... I don't think there is any sign of gender yet... one of em probably should be thrown away as Im gonna germinate a couple seeds tonight... The main LA CON CLONE is blooming quite bushy and beautifuly... I have no idea when to start flowering, but I will be setting up my flower room tomorrow... LA CON CLONE at 5 weeks... Still lookin' great man.. How was the vacation? How'd you end up watering 'em.. That LA Con at 5 wks looks great, have you thought about mothering her or cloning her?
thx a lot, it was a great vacation except for the killer sinus infection I have now... A close friend of mine came by a few times to water em... I have thought about cloning the LA CON, but I have pretty consistent access to seeds, and I am having a hard time getting light in the bushy canopy of this plant... so I want to flower it soon...
The cloning game is pretty fun though! Once you put her in flower she'll stretch out and start seeking out the light.. That 400w will have great penetration too.
I may just go for the cloning... I am very tempted I went online last night and got myself a grow tent... The actual Grow Tent (120x120x200) 48" x 48" x 78" inches 9 Connection Joints (1 Spares) Full Steel connetion beams I figure I will use it for my flowering room to keep things simple. I will run the 400w HPS in there, & maybe a few CFL's (6500k & 2300k) SMELL ventilation shouldn't be a huge concern with my space and amount of plants, but I will obviously need to keep air running throughout the tent so I will hopefuly figure something out when the tent arrives tomorrow...
Yeah grow tent! You'll love that thing.. Probably just eventually throw some fans in there maybe one ducting to the window.. Keepin the veg in the closet?
ya, keepin the veg in the closet for now... ok so here's the flowering room setup so far... this is the HPS bulb, right? MH bulb, right? I got an idea, but I don't know if it's possible... I plan on taping black plastic on all the windows to make the entire room the tent is in light-proof as well. By doing this couldn't I leave the tent door open for better circulation?? If I did this does anyone think I would still need an exhaust fan?
I don't see why you couldn't do that.. Just make sure the room temp isn't rapidly changing temp or something'. I would definitely still go with at LEAST one fan.. Maybe going over the tops of the plants, out the tent, and towards the venting window..? If possible.. You need to move the air around in there though.. MJ plants love some air circulation. Setup's lookin' good though!
hey guys...quick update.. I know I seem scitzo, but I decided to VEG everything in the tent with the MH light until the LA CON is ready to flower.. at that point Ill bring everyone back to the closet to veg under my T5's... I figure this'll speed things up a bit. DO I have my MH too close or far? It definitely not too hot at the top of the plants due to the fans doing their thing....
SO i got curious and grabbed some jiffy circles, clone liquid, and a tray with hood. I made a few cuttings and planted a couple more SKUNK #1 seeds. The LA CON is growing pretty bushy and crazy so the cuttings are very weirdly shaped but I think they could pull it off.... Here are some closeups of the LA CON....i think i see some female pre-flowers but what do I know... I also transplanted the pathetic sprout #3 hoping it would do better in a proper container.
