Alright... I have a small grow box fit for 1 or 2 small plants, with 1 825 lumens bulb... Is that going to be enough??? Also the seeds roots are now visible, when I plant them do they need immediate light??? Please help...
No, that is not enough. The sun puts out about 10,000 lumens per square foot. We are trying to replicate what the sun can put out. Therefor you want to go with MH/HPS which will give you a lot more light. More light equals more plant and bud growth. I would do no less than a 250 watt light for two plants and it would be better to get a 400 watt light if you can afford it. Can you post a pic of the plant? Some of the roots from my plants have popped out of the dirt, but most of them are all down in the soil somewhere. You could possibly just cover them up with dirt. As far as when to apply light, you want to turn your lights on as soon as the plant pops up out of the dirt. You will see two round leaves start first. I think it is called the cotyledon which is what you should see first which will look like two rounds leaves. Once you see them, put your light on an 18/6 cycle.
You have 825 lumens of what kind of light? Fluorescent tube, cfl? What spectrum? 2700k, 6500k, etc.? That is certainly not going to be enough light. It may be fine for the first few days after germination then u should add much much more as soon as possible. If your really on a budget and can't afford HID lighting, you can use cfls just fine. Look for the 23-26 actual watt bulbs. They are the most efficient as far as lumens per watt. During veg you want bulbs in the 5500-6500k range. For flower look for 2700k bulbs. Use at least 100-150 watts worth of bulbs per plant. With cfls more is always better since they do lack the intensity and penetration of HID lighting. Keep the bulbs as close to the plants as possible without burning leaves, about 2-3".
Well ATM I have only 1 cfl bulb at my disposal and I started the 18/6 method yesterday.. Since this is my first plant I'm sort of experimenting. And I put it in a little humidity chamber, is that good since its rooting?
Seedlings, unlike clones, like plenty of fresh air. I wouldn't keep them in the dome once they break the surface of the soil. Without more light you won't get much of a harvest. And your plant will be very stretchy and weak. But if your just "experimenting" then whatever I guess.
