I plan on growing a few plants outdoors this coming spring, I live in Iowa and was wondering how to begin, like what supplies I would need and whether it'd be worth it or not to buy seeds or to just use some bagseed. I am open to any advice you have to give me, my dad may help me and he is experienced with growing so I would like to be able to surprise him with my knowledge.

What latitude do you live at? What kind of budget do you have? How much time/attention will you be willing to give your plants?
He said that he is in Iowa which can be anywhere within 40 to 44 degrees. Do you want really dank weed, or do you just want some average weed that is just ok? If you want really dank weed, then spend the money at a good seed bank (Attitude Seed Bank) to get the seeds that you want. You can use bag seed, but your crop will only be as good as your seed. At about $10 to $20 per seed its well worth it to just order the actual seeds that you want.
