Help with Tincuture!

Discussion in 'Weed Edibles' started by Kackyful, Jul 18, 2017.

  1. I made a freezer method of tincture this last week w/ Everclear. The recipe did not say to decarb before, nor does it have me reduce! (WhyTF didn't I find this forum before!!). So now I have nearly 16 oz. of infused Everclear, but it's NASTY. Should I reduce it now and hope it sort of decarbs in the crockpot? (I have a gas stove, so don't want to risk open flame). I'm not seeing anything beside honey here, to flavor it with. I was hoping to make Jolly Rancher candies with it. So skip the honey and just thicken it up and add to melted JR's? Or should I get more weed, decarb it and add it to my Everclear infusional ready made and steep for a few more days?

  2. I'm sorry that the guide you used left out the two major steps for the tincture. Tell me about this freezer method that you used. Did you let it steep? If so, then that's why it tastes so bad, chlorophyll.

How much material and how much alcohol did you use? Is the Everclear 151 or 190 proof?

  3. Thanks for quick response! I used 1 gram to 16 oz. Everclear. Froze the buds first, then ground them and steeped in freezer for about 6 days, shaking mostly two times a day. 190% !

  4. Only one gram or one ounce in that 16oz of alcohol? If 1g then add some more to it. It's easily fixable. Do you have more you can add? We can overcome just 1g by adding a few more that are decarbed.

If 1oz don't add more but you should take it out of the freezer and strain it then filter it. I can give you more detailed info. Whichever it is, you'll need ventilation for the reduction and concentration of your tincture. Don't use the gas.

Usually we coarse grind, decarb at 240°F for 40minutes then place in the freezer separately from the alcohol. That guide had you do things in reverse but only important thing they left out was the decarb.

  5. So I can just reduce now and take my chances or decarb like half an ounce and do it in the freezer,? for how many days?, and then add it to the other? (and then reduce to syrup level I want? Or just leave it liquid form and add to my candy? Do some of both?) I have already strained this batch, btw. T.U in advance!!

  6. So, I guess that means you used 1g and not 1 ounce so you can overcome that easily if you want to use another half ounce. You only leave the decarbed material in the freezer for 24 hours. Place your already strained dilute tincture back in the freezer for that same 24 hours. Of course, they can be in there longer if scheduling becomes an issue.

After 24 hours you will mix the two and shake for a few minutes. Here's my guide you can use but mainly check out the video at the bottom of the page. That will give you some pointers. Another Tincture Thread - Try it, Youll like it

You can concentrate as you wish depending on what you want to do with it. If you want to make hard candy with it you should leave it as a concentrated tincture. You can use it as a tincture, too, if you want and if you concentrate it down to the gooey oil, you'll have RSO. :)

  7. Thank you!! I'm thinking a bit honey texture wise would be good to blend back in with the candy? I'll try some both ways! Thanks again!

  8. Don't be hesitant to ask about something either here or in my tincture thread. :pimp:

  9. :Love-Plant:
