Help with pot size/plants height

Discussion in 'Grow Room Design/Setup' started by StefaLate80, Jun 23, 2019.

  1. Hi all!

I will start soon a new project in a closet. The area is divided in two separate spaces, each one about 40"L x 20"W x 49"H. Considering pot height , distance from Led lights etc. I will have around 20" for the maximum plants height.

Was looking for a 6,5lt sq pot. (1,7gal.) i can fit 8 of them each room, leaving a bit of space in between and around.

Is this size of pot ok for the height i need?

Was wandering for a SOG turning on flowering when around 8" tall.

Soil around 60%coco 40% perlite, would be a good deal? (Dont want to water more then once a day, even on flowering.. Lol).

Strains: GSC in one room and sweet zkittlez in the other. (GSC maybe turn 12/12 when a bit shorter, cause of proverbial stretching).

    Any suggestion?

Thank you for any help provided!

  2. Considering the size of your pots and the fact that you only want to feed once a day - you might consider less perlite and possibly a larger pot. A mature plant in flower will need more than one feeding a day with that mix and that pot size. Are you familiar with how to grow in coco?

Good luck and welcome to GC. :)

  3. Recently completed a trial grow in an attempt to develop a semi-autonomous system using a swick watering system. My goal was to restrict plant height by limiting pot size. To my surprise (and disappointment) the Bangi Haze reached a height of almost 4’ in a 1 gal rag bag of coco/perlite under a 150w HPS using 12/12 from seed light schedule. Just never can tell!?!

  4. Not familiar with coco, not in practice till now.
Do you think i will need couple of watering a day at least?
To feed them i have the general organics go box, any guideline for that? I heard it is very concentrated, and its better use less then recommended

  5. Sigh.... I know it is not 100% ok till you clone. But first two attempts i have to go from seeds, then i will start a bonsai Mother.
The skittlez is Indi 80% should be more safe.
Anyway short growth, right strain and maybe i lightly LST and cross fingers... Lol

  6. I'm not familiar with the nutes but it's always a good idea to use less than the recommended quantities.
Some people feed multiple times a day and others feed only once - both with good results. I fed once daily until flower, then twice daily with pretty good results.
The best place to learn how to grow in coco is www.cocoforcannabis.com. Great site for good and proven information.
    Good luck.

  7. Thanks!

  8. Personally I would go with a rdwc system or a recerlating hydro/aeroponic system .
Go with a larger reservoir so you dont need to add water for 3 to 5 days .

  9. It would be the best!
In my case noise is an issue. Even the extra cost lol. Maybe in future
