Help with possible nutrient issue

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by LiveWire420, Jan 26, 2019.

  1. This is my second grow, first time hydro (DWC). Plant is a Gold Leaf from a seed from Robert Bergman. I'm using Fox Farms nutrients.

Went to check this morning and found some leaves were yellow towards the tips with brown spots.

I suspect a nutrient excess, but am not sure which one or how to deal with it. It isn't due for a flush until next week, but I might do it tonight anyway.

  2. Without ppm and pH info, it's almost impossible to help.

  3. pH is right around 6. EC is supposed to be 21-2300. I have two meters, one reads about 2000, the other about 1750.

  4. I haven't grown dwc in about 10 years so I'm no expert, but isn't 2000ppms too high? I never ran more than 700.

  5. Here's the table from the nutrients. Their scale is different units than my meters. Their 2.0 is equal to 2000 on my meters.

  6. PPM they are looking for is about 1400-1600. I'm going off EC.

  7. I have never heard of a ppm meter where 1.0 EC is equal to 1000 ppms. They're usually either 500 or 700 depending on manufacturer.

  8. No, it's micro Siemens,I think, vs ppm, different scales.

  9. Electrical conductivity (EC) vs total dissolved solids (TDS PPM). The chart I attached has EC first, then PPM. My meters read both, but I usually do EC.

  10. If your meter says 1.0 EC - what is the PPM?

  11. The table you posted shows 2.0 Ec at 1400 ppms, so obviously it's based on 700ppm = 1.0 Ec. So 2.0 Ec on your meter should be 1000ppms.

In post #5 you said their 2.0 EC was equal to 2000 ppms on your meter. I'm confused.

  12. Micro Siemens vs Milli Siemens, chart is in Milli, meter is in micro.

  13. I don't know anything about that but I do know EC and ppm's. If your meter is set up on a 500 scale like you said, then 2.0 EC equals only 1000 ppm's not 2000. Your chart is based on a 700 scale so it shows 2.0 EC as 1400 ppm's. EC is constant, it's only the ppm meters that screw things up by using different conversion methods.

  14. I only use EC. I don't use PPM ever.

  15. The lights don't come on for 7 hours, I'll give you both readings from my newer meter then.

  16. Then why did you say that 2.0 ec was 2000 ppm's on your meter? Good luck to you.

  17. Because I was asked what the PPM was. My meter is in US/cm which converts to 500 PPM. I was trying to answer to the best of my ability...

  18. I didn't say it was 2000 PPM, I said the chart was in Milli, 2.0, meter is in micro, which is 2000.

  19. Understood.
