Help with my clones

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by gambino, Apr 22, 2005.

  1. Well here is my situation:

I've got my hands on some clones from a reputable acquaintance of mine. They're about a week old and i just got them last night. Some are yellowed a bit, I have no idea how he was storing them other than 24/7 hours of light. Here's a pic:

Now the lights are 1 Fluoro desk lamp about 1 foot away maybe a little less. Also 1 100Watt bulb about 2 feet away maybe a little more. The temp inside is about a touch under 30 degree celcius. The cubes a just slightly moist and they're getting misted everyday. They're beginning to root...

Now i was told that once their roots are beginning to peak out of the cubes it's time to put them in some "promix" in beer cups or little pots. Do they stay on 24/7? Do i need more light?

Right now they're in an aquarium, pictured here:

Anyays i'm just looking for some suggestions here as i go.
I'd appreciate any information from anyone who knows that they're doing.

    Thanks,

  2. HIGH gambino and Welcome to The City, yes they will yellow and once you see roots pot them babies up..your lighting is ok. Can't wait to see these babies grow up to be Beautiful Ladies.

  3. maybe you could do without that incendescent bulb, they dont do much except make heat, and also if that is aluminum foil in there you should just go with a flat white wall because it absorbs less light and gives off less heat.

  4. Ok, well i've moved them into my cloest now and taken the incendescent bulb away.
I was wondering does the container that the clones are in need to be closed for more humidity? Like in this pic?

Or is it better without the top?

They've got 80watts of cool white fluoro on them now for now, 24/7.

  5. Hi Gambino. If the top isn't too low for the plants, leave the top on for 4 or 5 days and try not to water them too much, the top should keep the humidty in which should keep them wet enough. The light could be alittle closer but at this stage it is ok. The idea is to not overwhelm them with light but give them some as they need to focus more on root growth. You don't want to water them much so the roots will grow more as they search for water but with the top on, they should be able to get all the water they need. All looks good so far! Hope this helps and good luck :)

  6. Thanks for the tips. Lol someone was telling me to have the cubes with the clones in them swimming in water on the halfway mark on the cubes. Which i thought was rediculous as you said, you want the roots to be searching for water (growing).

Some of them are rooting quite quickly so i went out and bought some Promix.
    Specifically this:

Put them in little plastic cups with some small holes on the bottom. The promix is just a little moist and not drenched. Aswell i moved the light down directly over everything.

  7. Wow, nice setup you put together there with the light, that should hold you for a week or two. Those transplants look alittle beat up but they should recover as MJ is alot stronger of a plant then people think. They can take quite abit of abuse. Good luck :)

  8. Thanks, Yeah those potted ones are the worst of the bunch. Since they had some roots peaking out i thought i should try them in soil and see if they pull through.

We'll just have to wait and see how they look in the morning, and if there's any change in their health.

  9. Well I thought I would update everyone regarding my ladies. Most of them have been doing very well. I've moved most of them into their own little cups with promix. They've been doing very well aside from a few that I planted to early.

Weird though, some of them have come so close to death. Completely yellowed and wilted, yet I can see some new green developement on them. They continue to amaze me and do a complete 180 from death and thrive everyday I check on them.

Still the 2 in the first pic on the left seem to be complete losses. I expected them to go they were in a sad state originally and I had planted them to early.

I noticed a sort of green moss like substance but not moss maybe just a lot of green in the top soil of 2 of them? Anyone know if it's something I should be worried about. Also I have some little flies I notice 1 every few days around, is this something I should be worried about? If so how do I get rid of this problem? A fan?

  10. Well, they seem to be coming along pretty well. Not sure when I should be planting them in bigger containers. Most of them will be going outside, but some will stay indoors.

  11. Still on 24/7 fluoro cool.

I believe they'll need to be either put into larger pots, and/or moved outdoors. In my case it's both, some will stay in and some will go out.

I'm looking at this site for info on how or when to tell if they're female or male? I'll continue searching it up on here. But it someone happens to know I would appreciate your reply or comments on my grow.

    Thanks people,

  12. bigger pots, and put them on 18/6, they are looking awsome in contrast to last pics.. :hello:
you wont determine sex untill 12/12 cycle is set.

but seeing as those were clones, im guessing that they were taken off of a female plant, so they should be female

    goodluck man

  13. IF THEY ARE CLONES THE SHOULD BE FEMALE....... GROW EM AS BIG AS YOU WANT AND THEN FLOWER.. nO SEXING WITH CLONES...

  14. unless some greedy bastard that got a male cloned them and sold them to him... then ya, they should be female

  15. Ok, so the time has come. I'm starting to move my plants from indoors to outdoors (balcony)
    .
They were under lights for 24 hours a day, and I moved them out just now at 1:30pm in the afternoon.

Should I have switched to 12/12 before doing the move? They were clones off a Fem.

Any tips for this would be most appreciated.

  16. might be slow growin for like aweek due to a little shock, but i dont think you should worry, looking good

    Goodluck

  17. Thanks for the reassurance, i guess i should also be looking for some sprays or something to ward off the pests that will try to infest.

Last time i tried growing on my balcony with one plant it got invested with these pod cocoons like things near the bottom of the stem. I'd like to prevent that from happening again.:devious:

  18. hmm so it went from 24 a day to outdoors? how much light would it be recieving directly and indirectly each day? if its anywhere near 12/12 it will most likely start off slowly but gradually become bigger, i would of recommended getting them closer and closer to the 12/12 then bringing them outdoors so the shock would be minimal shock...other than that i think they should be fine

  19. I'm not even sure how much light they're going to be getting. I'm basically taking a gamble with these first 4 moving them outside. We'll see what happens and once I see how they do, I'll get an idea of what I should do differently if anything with the rest of them.

  20. come on dude gets some pics up :)
