Help with Mom's

  1. Let me start off by saying that this IS my first grow. I currently have WW, Barney's LSD, Barney's Utopian Haze and a NLxSkunk....Today my WW has sprouted and looks good. The others should be right behind her. I have a mom/clone cabinet set up right now and had a few ?'s that I can not seem to find the answer I was looking for. My mom cabinet is 30 inches by 24 inches and 72 inches tall. Now my question is what would be a good size container to keep moms in?

  2. I keep my mothers in 1 qt cups. They need a haircut every so often, and a root trimming too. But the stems on these are about the size of my thumb and they're maybe 12 to 18" tall.

  3. 1 qt cup's !? no thats not enough...2 or 3 gallon pot's if you plan on keeping them for any lengthy period of time and healthy, the more room for root's to grow the better your mother's will grow. 1 gallon minimum... trimming the top is not stopping the root's from growing, your 1 qt pot's sound insainly rootbound.... trimming your root's is stressing your mother's out too. trust me... they will stop growing for day's when you do this, defeat's the purpose of growing indoor's all together.

that's not a good thing at all...

1 qt cup's would be ok for clone's, but even they would need to be transplanted once before vegging really begin's to a 1 gallon to gain any decent growth in a period of time.

plant's growth seriously slow's when they get root bound, i start seed's in 1 or 2 gallon's just to get a beast at 5 week's old, that's how hydro work's so well, room for the root's to grow, this is what contributes to making hydro such as fast form of growing herb...

  4. Well for me the qt cups work fine. Some of these mothers are over 2 years old. You MUST root prune in addition to cutting the tops, there's no way around it. But i can keep 8 mothers in a 16" x 18" cabinet too.

  5. my point is your stressing your plant's MJ is a herb after all, kinda hard not to grow it. kinda hard to kill...
more stress = less yield, ask any grower at GC..
have to remember what ever work's for you..is not alway's best the best way...
this is how we all learn from other's...and better techniques.
