Help with humidity please.

  1. Hello all,

I got a few plants in flowering at the moment.

Lights 1000 watt hps and 600 watt quantum board and out take fan on and humidity hovers around 50.

Lights off humdity goes upto 80% which is very worrying. I been using a dehumidifier and bringing the RH down to 50% but am very mindful of the big cost in running this machine.

What I'm thinking is run two out take fans so taking air moisture out of the room and have 2 oscillating fans on high blast hitting over the plants. One fan from bottom and other fan from top so not to give a chance for any moisture to sit on plants.

Do you guys think this would work?

    Peace
    Eastman

  2. Ditch the dehumidifier save the cash on the electric bill. Just continue to vent the room with outside fresh air . This will keep it under control. Any sitting air that is not circulated with fresh air that is over 45 % in late flower you chancing mold. Now if that air is moving in and out of the room with fresh air then you can go up to 75 80 % with out getting mold usually . Think about it . Out door plants rain on them humid nasty hot days up in the 90 % ro range . No bud rot . Usually ok .

  3. whats creating such high RH swings? Trying to understand if its a tent in a basement situation. Maybe switching timing schedules helps? Sort of like not running lights during the hot days because it increases heat, etc

  4. Thank you Bryan that is excellent advice mate.

@bostonboi my grow is in a out house. I am running lights at night due to cold nights thankfully it is turning now.

  5. Your next grow . Use autos . No worry about light coming in form outside. Run the lights 24/7 if you want . Better 18 but 24 works.

  6. I worry about drawing more electricity, my timers are getting "warm". Can normal bathroom wiring (usa) handle, all you describe? A very serious consideration when building a grow spot. I assume u guys/gals do some re-wiring before adding dehumidifiers, multiple lights, fans, etc???

  7. ++1 I don't worry about humidity, Condensation  hell yes. Think outdoor growers in Thailand don't have high humidity? Right on Bryan, form me with adequate defoliation & air flow humidity is a non issue, & i'm in central Fl USA. Bigger things to worry about like working neat & keeping shit clean, the wife's been after me about it forever. A dirty grow room & fungus gnats seem to go hand in hand??? DOI ;)

  8. Just over watered soil brings those bugs .. Sand on top of the soil or more perlite . Even if a skilled grower was to water perfect only when they needed water all at once . Not like a rookie just little by little so the top of the soil never gets dry. So this skilled grower could get these bugs time to time if that soil does not have the drainage .
Bugs are just there. Look at some pond at the golf range . Those ponds have fish or cray fish. Nobody brough them there.

  9. I have run a 4"fan/filter lights off and a 6" fan/filter lights on, with a very well built shed, full insulated you should beable to keep the flower room warm with a low amount of electricity, warming the room will reduce the humidity loads.

  10. Have tried autos man not my cup of tea. Nothing personal against them but I like the degree of control I have over photos and the 12/12 always helps with cutting cost down but my dehumidifier is defeating that purpose.

I'm just gonna do 4inch intake 5 inch out take and have an oscillating fan and done.

I had condensation few years back when I didn't have in take and out take holes in my space and just used dehumidifier last 3 weeks and the bud turned out great lol.

  11. I give my girls some individual hand time  I give them a "scalp massage" app 2-2 1/2" deep in the soil or until I feel roots. This keeps a crusty top from forming & seems to cut down on the fungus gnats too???

  13. Yes. Eggs are in the soil. You break them up. Also mix the soil so it has a chance to dry evenly . Also it keeps the soil loose . Loose soil always better for the roots .
