Im pretty new to the growing game. Right now i have 14 plants (7 white widow and 7 northern lights) about 8 days into veg stage. Dont have the money for hps or mh. I am using 2, 75 watt fluorescent grow lights (24 inch tube). I am wondering what kind of light spectrum these typically put out and if i should add another kind of fluorescent in for veg cycle? I have a 100 watt fluorex flood light on the way (the ones they say are equivelant to 500 watts) Any advice you more experienced growers could give would be great. Also when should i start adding nutrients?
I have no idea what those tubes could be. I'm sure they won't take care of 14 plants though. You're going to need a lot more light, maybe look into a few 4' fixtures, they're pretty cheap. The color temperature of your lights in veg should be around 6500k and in flower around 2700k.
I didnt think that they would take care of all 14. THe fluorex i have coming is 6500k all i know about the grow lights is they are made for plants and are made by lights of america. What is the earliest i can tell the sex of the plants?
if you veg for a month or so and put it into 12/12 the sex should show after a couple weeks of 12/12. also, what color is the light the growlights put out? bluish should be around 6500k and yellow/orange should be around 2700k.
Ok...those tubes, are they 20w, 75w equivilant? Cuz that would make more sense. If they're like the GE plant and aquarium bulbs and put out a purple sort of light, they have no real color temp since they're mixed spectrums I believe, red and blue. Your fluorex spotlight will be good, you said it's 100w right? How do you plant to grow these plants? If you wind up with 7 females, you will certainly need more light for flowering unless you do a sea of green and keep them all small, in which case you will still need more light just not as much more.
Yeah thats exactly what kind of tubes they are man. i just went out and got 2 CFLs that are 6500k and put out 1600 lumens each. As far as how i am going to grow i am a little stumped. I am growing in a walk in closet right now that is 8 ft long about 4.5 ft wide but it has an angled ceiling it goes from 5 ft down to about 2.5 ft. Any good suggestions how i can utilize that space efficiently? i appreciate all the feedback im getting.
