Help With Curing Process and Setup

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by Deleted member 1089694, Jun 26, 2020.

  1. Getting ready to harvest in a few weeks, but have some concerns. I've read I want a dark area with temps around 70. That accurate? If so, any ideas on portable ACs? I'm growing in an outdoor shed and temps are steady around 80. Keeping it dark isnt a concern but keeping the temps around 70 will be.

What are your suggestions for doing this? I am going to install some roof vents to help let warm air out and will keep fans circulating the air but am thinking I will need some kind of portable AC, and then my concern is humidity. Running the dehumidifier now is pushing temps up in the shed.

Give me some tips on how to handle this or links to good portable ACs or other ideas to control the temps.

Other alternative would be ideas on keeping the smell down if I absolutely have to bring them into the house to cure.

    Thanks

  2. Not sure about which portable AC to use, but sounds like you may need one. Drying and curing properly is SO important and can make or break your grow. Worthwhile investment if you ask me. AC will help with humidity too, which you'll also want to be sure is kept in check for a proper dry and cure.

  3. Have a dehumidifier already for the grow room, but need to find another solution. I'm going to have to harvest in batches. Any good tips on smell-proof drying in my house? Temps and humidity wont be a problem but the smell will be and I have Joe way to easily vent it outside.

  4. An exhaust fan and vent is the best way. If you don't exhaust it, it will smell. I haven't tried any other way, but I've known fellas that dried indoors without venting and their entire house smelled like....well, like they were drying a bunch of sick bud in their house!!

  5. For what it is worth, air conditioners also dehumidify the air so adding an a/c unit will help your dehumidifier to run less, which will means it won't raise the temp as much and so on.

As far as portable units, just get a major brand that matches your space requirements. Make sure it vents to a window so that it sends the hot air outside the room. If this is a room that is going to be used for several years then a mini split is a good option that can be found for not too much more than a portable a/c.
