I'm having a hard time with cloning. I know it's not the easiest thing to do, but out 8 I've tried to clone only 1 has actually made it to veg. But here's what I'm doing, let me know if I'm doing something wrong or if I'm missing something. But I'm taking a clone from my mother plant from the bottom of the plant. And once I've taken the cut I place it in some distilled water, and then I apply some rooting hormone to the cutting. Then I place it in my dirt pot. I don't use a humidity dome, but I use some zip lock bags with rubber bands over the top of the cups. And I place it under my light, a few inches away from the light. I know it's not too close where it's too hot, so that's fine. I keep the cuttings nice and moist multiple times a day. But everything seems to go fine the first 3 to 4 days and then the cutting seems to have the look like it's drying out but the leafs feel nice and moist. So is there anything that I'm doing wrong, or is there something that I'm missing?
I prefer cloning in a bubble bucket with distilled water...Saw it somewhere here...More than likely one of Rump's postings, his was more elaborate than my bucket with airstones, but bubbles is bubbles (or are as the case maybe)...I assume the dome helps, someday Ill put one together and over the clones but right now I use 4 small net pots with hydroton, no rockwool, hanging just over the water level in a bb...my only failures come when I forget to check the water level..
get the cuttings AWAY from the light at least a foot or two. they cant use the light so well without roots so if you light em up like regular plants they'll start dying. make sure that the cut goes to the bottom of the container and flood with watter in a tray very often your going about it kinda primitive but it will work just takes time.
