Help with Box

Discussion in 'Grow Room Design/Setup' started by NickW, Nov 2, 2010.

  1. I want to make a new grow box around 55 inches tall 40 inches wide and 20 inches deep. Could anyone help me with the layout of my box so i can get started on the build?
Im not sure yet if i should run all the ventilation in the box as one whole box like the first image or run 2 seperate chambers. What do you guys think? Should i make an air cooled reflector for my cfl setup it looks sorta like http://forum.grasscity.com/do-yourself/231455-inexpensive-diy-grow-light.html. Im only looking for one maybe 2 plants on a scrog in my box. And also how would i scrog the vegging plant then move it into the flowering chamber? could you change the screens? I have a 120mm fan that does like 132 cfm and also another 120mm fan that is a 3 speed. 35 cfm 47 cfm and 77 cfm. I have a little 6 inch fan i put inside blowing on the lights. I wouldn't have a lot of room behind the box for like elbows or a carbon scrubber coming out. So i would have to either have it vent out the top or either side of the box. I can have the intakes on the bottom if its easier by putting the box up on some blocks. Ill appreciate any help. Cant figure out how i would do this

  2. I dont need help with building the box just really like where i would put the intakes and exhaust and how much cfm i would need to pull through my box and a carbon scrubber. How big the flowering chamber should be and how big the veg chamber should be and how many watts of cfls i should have in each. Im not very good with all these equations

  3. 27.5 cubic feet in your grow space
x 3 for removing the air three times a minute=82.5CFM RATED FAN
x2 for air restrictions with a carbon scrubber =165 CFM RATED FAN

others will say less... depends on who you talk to.... I always say go high.. I don't know where your grow is or how hot it is where you are... or how hot your intake or where you exhausting to... so

100 actual watts per plant minimum

space does not really matter.... you can grow in a computer box.... you just have to have the right planning...

read the sig.. maybe that will answer some of your questions

  4. alright cool thanks. Do you have any ideas on how i should set up the box? Where the intake and exhaust should go? Should i make a air cooled reflector for my flowering room?

  6. more or less... yes... looks kosher

  7. If I just plan on having one plant in each chamber how many watts do i need for each chamber? And I need about 200 cfm?

  9. What would be a cheap exhaust fan for my box?

  10. Need length, width an heigth

100 actual watts per plant minimum

  11. height is 50 inches
    length is 40 inches
    and width is 20 inches

I have the plans i made for my box posted on this thread.

  12. I already answered your question about CFM ratings for a fan.... you actually lie right in the middle or going to large fan... So if all your going to do is use CFL's for growing... you shouldn't have a problem with a lower CFM rating(there are alot of variables)

I would get this fan... and make my own carbon filter

    http://forum.grasscity.com/do-yourself/518723-diy-carbon-scrubber-6-flange.html

maybe not the activated carbon part.. but definately the pet filter

  13. oh alright i didn't know if having different chambers increased the cfm i needed for the box. Thanks ill check into it. Ill have my box built by friday and ill get some pictures up.
How many watts do you think i would need for my veg? Like 70?

100 actual watts per plant.. minimum...

  15. alright thanks. I didn't know if a smaller cab meant i needed less watts. So i should do about 100 for veg 130 for flower?

Also do you know how big my intake on the bottom left and bottom right should be and the intake inbetween the 2 chambers?

  16. Your intake needs to be the same as your exhaust. 4 inch pc fan for exhaust = four inch passive intakes

100 watts is the minimum per plant

  17. K thanks.
How is a good way to make the intakes?
Out of 2 pvc elbows? these take up a lot of room tho

  18. PVC is the easiest way. You can make your own outa wood but it just wasted time

  19. Two 2 inch passive intakes is the same as one four inch intake. Maybe this will save you some room

  20. Alright so all 3 of my intakes should be 4 inch pvc? The middle one connecting the rooms and the ones on the left and the right
