Help! Seeds last 2 weeks of flowering

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by straightdro, Oct 15, 2010.

  1. I have exactly one week left in flowering and seeds started appearing about a week ago. I don't see any signs of a hermie but it looks like more and more seeds start appearing. Should i cut it down early, or should i wait the full week, and possibly risk more seeds? I have a Scrog, bubblebucket, under 400 watt hps. One plant that is stretched throughout a 2ft. by 5ft screen. Did this screen stress the plant to much? i also had a watermelon bigbud that had hermie traits last grow, was the pollin from that still on my walls did i not clean the room well enough? Please Help with any input, my purps are getting overtaken with seeds!

  2. you dont think it hermied....but its full of seeds?
cut it down man, sorry about your grow but free seeds right! make some hash with the plant, some edibles too

  3. Something hermied in there, you just havent found it yet. If you only have one week to go, continue as scheduled. The damage is done and another week isnt going to make a bit of difference in pollination.

  4. Yeah it isn't the end of the world.

You will still have plenty of bud and plenty of seeds.

  5. Sup bud,

How's it going? Did you end keeping or destroying it? Any pics? Anyone know any forumns on how to make hash with male plants?

  6. cut the plant down, remove leaves, stems, and throw it into a bucket, then make ISO HAsh, but remove the pollen, idk if it's okay to consume, but im just being safe.

  7. lol, yes it's perfectly fine to consume. It is totally organic and non-toxic. Not much THC in it though, and it would definitely add to the yield of your hash, but not potency.

  8. haha i figured it was, but i didnt want to give any info that i didnt know for sure.

  9. So what was the cause? Do you know?

  10. Most likely you waited too long to harvest. I've learned that a female may hermie late into flowering if she doesn't get pollinated. My first female did this to me as well. Still was great bud and you get free seeds for next time!

  11. I wouldnt say "most likely", but waiting too long can cause nanners. It's called Rhodilization and is a common practice in feminized breeding.

    all seeds will be feminized.

  12. hmmm, then i'll leave my Lemon Haze to mature till it hermes, i dont mind seeds :D

  13. if a plant hermies and pollinates itself, you have exact clone seeds of the mother.

  14. Along those lines then, I have a question...

You basically dont want seeds because once pollinated, the cannabis blossoms not longer produce the resins that have THC.

    My question is this:

Since the growth cycle of the buds has by definition come to an end, wouldnt Rhodilization be a good thing to do every time you grow? The seeds would be genetic clones of the mother, as no outside genetic material is involved. And, you arent stunting resin production, since the growth cycle has already produced all the resin its going to.

  15. In a perfect world, yes it would be a good thing to do, unless you want seedless bud.

Also, keep in mind that just because you produce nanners doesnt mean that the seeds will be viable. you are producing pollen at the end of the life cycle and odds are that you wont have enough time with that crop to pollinate and get viable seeds.

breeding techniques using rhodilization utilize multiple grows to produce seeds. Meaning, you produce the pollen this grow, harvest, then produce seeds next grow.

  16. Ahh, I misunderstood then.

    Thanks for the info.

  17. Hey thanks for the comments, I was freaking out yesterday, for obvious reason. But i ended up cutting it down yesterday. Figured it out, went out of town couple weeks ago switched to that humbolt bud hardener before i left, and burned em', didn't realize it stressed them that much to hermie it. But all is good, the smoke should be great (minus the premature seeds in it), and got more than expected.
