  1. So I am extremely new to all this and it all seems so overwhelming. I tried to get a setup after reading numerous articles, books etc but still not sure what I’m doing. Looking for some help and guidance to make the best out of what I have. I would greatly appreciate any feedback and be so grateful.
Uploaded my current setup and started the growing process inside, but not sure where to go from here. Plants are growing, but don’t look right and I don’t want them to die before they ever get a chance to truly live. lol… Pictures of current growth attached as well. I know they definitely need to go into bigger pots but not sure what nutrients I need. Please help this desperate man…

  2. You're going to have to pick a growing method. Many people start with fox farm ocean forest soil cut with 25-30% perlite and feed only water for the first month or two.

Growing in pure coco or coco perlite is also an option, though you'll need to water more often for best results. A simple nutrient line such as Jacks 321 or masterblend is fine to start with.

  3. This is what I started them in and the type of growing soil and medium. Think I need something else or think this will work? Also, does the growing tents and ten I have for drying seem like it will be good? Thanks so much.

  4. this post makes ZERO sense why would you purchase all this without a little more research

  5. If that's all you've got you've got a ways to go. Option 1 would be to mix the coco and worm castings with perlite and add amendments. This is usually done with peat moss rather than coco coir, but some people manage to pull it off with coco.

Option 2 would be to use the worm castings in your veggie garden and pick up some nutrient salts, an ec meter, and a pH meter and grow in pure coco running drain to waste.

Either way, much more research is warranted. Get some coffee and explore some threads, listen to some podcasts, watch some videos and figure out how you want to proceed.

  6. Because I’m and idiot and go all out when I get excited about something. I read a lot of stuff from different sites like Seedsman and ILGM on how to start, what kind of equipment was needed order of steps from seedlings to harvest. Read about flushing and how to grow in various scenarios. I even got a whiteboard and broke it all down in sections from veggie stages to flowering. I felt confident and excited, then they started growing and I completely choked. I realized after all that I was still so confused because you read on one site to use this and then on another to use that. Now I’m just confused and feel lost on what to really use and next step from here. So I came here asking for guidance and to try and make sense of all the back and forth answers I read and watched from various sites. I figured chatting with others here would be more beneficial than all the many different views and not knowing which one to actually follow.

  8. EDIT: No pictures attached …..
Welcome to the guild, and to the forum.
What I will recommend first, before anything else, pH your tap water.
Prior to starting to grow weed, I attempted container tomatoes for 10 years. Always a miserable failure with unhealthy plants and very sparse, non-edible fruit. Last year, after a similar start with cannabis, I figured out it was my tap water pH was too high. Not a problem growing outside in the ground, but containers magnify the effect of pH. And if you use shitty, high pH tap water, your done almost before you start. That’s where I would start. My second inside grow, I went all organic. My current and third grow is also organic.

Bottled nutrients are so heavily marketed, and numerous, it can be overwhelming. Consider using the Fox Farms trio of nutrients:
    1. They are easy to find. Walmart and most big box stores are even carrying them.
    2. They are relatively simple to use. Start at 1/2 strength when your plants get 3-4 inches tall and increase the feeding concentration slowly as veg progresses.
    3. FF feeding schedule is pretty simple.
    4. There is a large population of growers here that use FF trio.
The FFOF (Fox Farms Ocean Forest) is a fine and accessible medium to grow in as well. You will want to find a good grow shop as well. Just don’t ask them what kind of nutrients to get, tell them what you want instead (this should always be on the grower, not the merchant IMHO). Don’t get caught up in marketing, labeling, and advise to use a dozen special $$$ bottles of nutes. I think it’s a lot of bullshit and not necessary to grow a fine crop of weed. Pick a two part or three part nutrient schedule, get a couple of pH meters and a bottle of white vinegar, and call it good.

Much of the knowledge and know-how for growing came the friendly growers here on this GC Forum. I chose organic growing mostly because the quality of smoke is better and mixing/ pHing nutes gets really old. I still ALWAYS pH and adjust my water with white vinegar.

    Welcome and enjoy the ride.

THANK YOU SO MUCH! Thank you for taking the time to respond to a complete newbie who gets to excited to quickly sometimes and waste more money than probably needed. lol… I have a habit and tendency to always overdo when I’m trying something new and generally end up spending way more money than needed…lol attached pics of set-up that is way overkill or hell maybe not enough. What do I know…lol Also attached is photos of current grow I’m trying, only 4 probably should have started with less 4 just seemed like a good even number. I was told to start with autoflower strains till I could learn how to become a better grower. I stated growing indoors under a single light and had on a heat mat then when sprouted I removed heat mat and have raised the light a little higher but the leaves have started turning yellow. I had a ph meter to test water and it didn’t work so I had to order another one. When I get it I will definitely test the water. I used room temperature filtered water. Will definitely check out the Fox Farms trio because to be honest it was all the mass amount of nutrients and many different brands that was making my head start to spin. I originally started them in these small little 2” pots that came with little peat moss inserts but now see I probably should have started in atleast a gallon container. I have some fabric 5 gallon pots I got from Home Depot that I read were supposed to be pretty good. What would you recommend for pots and sizes to go from seedling to harvest? I also posted pic of soil and growing medium I haven’t opened yet, think I should return them and get something else? Thanks again so much I really appreciate your time.

Unfortunately somebody suggesting autoflowers to start imo was a terrible mistake. With autos you don’t have time to learn how to grow, they need to be grown correctly from start to finish for best results.
It seems like your doing fairly well in life being able to splurg on what you have. Now with that being said unfortunately I suggest you put the coco bricks back in the closet for now along with the worm castings, you can get into those once you have the basics down and a successful grow under your belt. The coco bricks take preparation work before being usable and it’s just more stuff you don’t need to stress about yet!
So my suggestion would be to buy a bag of fox farms happy frog soil and a bag of perlite, mix together eat 70/40 soil/perlite ratio. From here water once a week with phed tap water lifting the pot daily to get a feel for the difference in weight from wet to dry. This is the most basic and easiest way I have found to get a plant to the finish line with pretty good success.
So a quick list would be
    Ph meter
    Happy frog soil and perlite
Nutrients- I think botanicare cns -17 is a great line to start with because you litterally only have to use one bottle for veg and one for bloom.
I hope this helps you out and if you are set on using what you have already I would be happy to explain the process needed to get the coco bricks ready and how to grow in it. regardless what you choose I highly suggest leaving the organic gardening to more experienced growers and pick up some bottled nutes even if it’s just for this grow.

  12. Good advise from @Popcorn.
Starting in small containers is fine.Swap your coco out and get them transplanted ASAP.

Your 5 gallon fabric pots are fine. Some growers use bigger pots, a few use smaller but not advised.

You’ll want drip tray and riser under each pot. Trays and risers are really inexpensive from the hydro shop, and more expensive from the BB stores. Risers are commodity in grow shop, never have seen one at a garden center. Use the riser to keep your pots out of the runoff from watering. I used a $20 battery powered transfer pump to drain the drip trays, as applicable, maybe three or 4 times during the grow. That pump is handy for a variety of water dispensing needs, depending on your situation.

We all started out as noobs. Look like you’re off to a good start.
