My baby is exactly 13 days old from seed. She has been nothing short of beautiful and apparently healthy since day 1. I know details help but I don't have time to list everything right now. I checked on her this morning and she was great. 6 hours later she is dried up and turning yellowish brown and drooping bad I touched the bottom set of blades and one literally broke in half like it was completely dry. Wtf? I didn't do anything this morning to have an effect between this morning and now. Her water schedule is tomorrow but I gave her a little now cause I got scared I will admit that she is due for transplant cause the roots are visible from the bottom of the pot. But that just became visible about 18 hours ago. And honestly I hope that this is why it's happening so hopefully when I transplant tonight it will save her. Here is kind of a crappy pic The light makes it look more yellow than it really is Please please please help a brother out! Everything has been going so well
what kind of lights are you using, and what are the temps like? The soil might be drying out faster than you think.
5400k cfl about 3 in away. It's been 1 in away since birth. I test the heat with my hand twice a day. When I found it like this I checked the heat then. So I canceled that out. I checked the soil as well it was moist about 3 in under the surface. So I canceled that out. ( I will admit however that I have it in the last thing I wanted to use ( MirGro starter potting soil ) ) but I have FFOM ready to transplant in!
Not heat but she is on a 24 hour light cycle pH (5.6) Temp ( 73/78 ) Humidity (49/55) Water cycle has been every other day and slightly increasing amount of water each time.
I will mention that she is on a 24hr light cycle 3 questions: The blades on the bottom that are all dried out...should I chop em off so she doesn't use her energy to fix them or just leave them be? Should I just go ahead and transplant or should I wait to see if she recovers a little bit before hand. (so she doesn't take the shock from transplanting + not feeling well....I'm just worried that she won't survive all that. And this last q is a bit off subject. I noticed that she got to about 1 3/4 inch and hasn't grown any taller ( I do want to keep her short and bushy anyway ) but the blades are growing very well. Honestly from tip to tip of the blades is longer than the height of the stem. From soil to the first set of blades, the stem is shaped like a sideways ( U ) I've seen this when people train it to do so, but I have yet to do any training on her. Is this okay? If so, maybe I'm just lucky and she will stay short without me having to train her Or should I train her to stand op straight?
What I have learned from soil is this; I order to have nutes in the soil you need to start with them. Meaning, before you start, add the proper nutes to the soil. From there you have to water properly so the plants dry up or die from over watering. This is why I chose hydroponics. The watering problem is taken out of the equation. And so are the nutes. I feel that you have more control mover feeding and watering through hydro. There are people that say that hydro is harder but I disgaree. I feel that it is easier.
That's great and all. I plan on it down the road. However, you waisted your time cause that has nothing to do with what I am asking. But much respect for representing hydro. Gotta love it
