Ok I am not sure what is wrong with them. I left for Thanksgiving and gave a little water. The plants were in a humidty dome. I think that I gave them a little too much water. I came back and they were all not looking so hot.

The two that I had started Shot up like... Well a weed Here are what they are looking like:

As you can see the new growth is all a light green color. The original 2 leaves are still a nice green color. The other problem is they are getting brownish, tan spots in the middle of the leaves. They are still getting bigger but this is what they are looking like.

    The others look like this:

    1. The leaves are turning in on themselves but is still fairly healthy looking.

    2. The new leaf growth is shriveling and turning black. Yet the starting leaves are still healthy looking.

    3. All leaves are shriveling and starting to yellow.

    4. Leaves are all yellowed and shriveling.

Those are the main ones, there was another one but it has bent over and are turning brown.

When I got home I checked them and squeezed the rockwool. I had a lot of water come out of them. Like A LOT. Lightly squeezing the rock wool between 15 starts I got a normal bowls amount of water out of them.

After draining this much water the cubes were still damp. I have left them 24 hours and some of the younger ones are getting green again. Figure I will let them rest another day and dry out a bit before I water them again. PH 5.5 water.

Is there anything else that I should be doing. Is it just the over watering? Is there a further problem that you see? Help me out here I am worried about the babies.

PS - there are also started seeds that haven't sprouted yet, all the seeds were started and tap rooted before I put them in the rockwool. They haven't started yet and I am worried they will not sprout after the excess water. They have been in the cubes at least 5 days and haven't sprouted.

you really shouldn't need to water them more than once a week if your humidity dome is any good. i use a ziplock bag and i haven't watered mine since i soaked the r/w.

that's somewhat beside the point because the environment your cubes are in looks like it's lacking; what i mean by that is your cubes look dry, and that's because if the r/w has enough water in it, then it would be leaking and pooling in your plastic container, which it isn't. now, your cubes might have water in them, but if your environment has such low humidity that there is no water pooling, then these plants are still at risk.

your r/w MUST be in a humid environment or it will dry out in hours. you're using a dome, so there should be condensation completely covering the dome.

i would suggest wetting them, and putting them in a closed or semi closed environment, and utilizing a heat mat.

  3. The pics make the rock wool look really light, I pick them up and the bottoms still are moist and there is water in the bottom of the dome, not a lot just drops. I thought drying them out a bit would help them. I went ahead and am trying your advice. I gave them a little water and I am going to monitor them every couple of hours to see if they are improving. If they get much worse I will probally put them on a paper towel to get the moisture rolling out. Think I should go ahead and put the dome back on? Or leave it off in case it was too much water?

  4. Here's my thought... Why the Hell haven't you planted them yet? Don't let them dry out man! That not good for little seedlings in a tray like that! They're ready to start growing, roots will be coming out the bottom soon (if they haven't already).

have to go back in the dome. but your humidity should be like 70% when they're in that shape, which would be hard to achieve without a heating pad and a good tight dome. (that's why humidity domes don't have a flat surface. there needs to be a bit of standing water to achieve high humidity, otherwise the water will be coming from the plant and grow medium.) And you didn't specify how old they are, but they look about 3 weeks and at 3 weeks in r/w they just need water.

  6. I was getting ready to add these to the aero system but with the health problems I was worried it would be shock. The 2 big ones might be ready but what about all the others they are very small and haven't moved. These are about a week old at this point, the 2 spouted faster than all the others.

  7. and btw, since your r/w looks really beat up, just rip it open and the the plant in a new one that's been soaked in ph'd water.

  8. like md3 said ^, get um in larger pots and proper soil, water them till over flow and let them do their thing. they need nothing special at this point that isnt supplied with proper soil, light and a fan. keep it simple my man and dont fret, they are tough mfers!!

  9. No soil no pots going aero do guess I should just throw em in there? I was told to wait til they are a little bigger to put em in the system

  10. Hooking up the Aero system tonight and letting it run for a bit to let the chlorine from the tap evaporate and running the pump to make sure there are no leaks. Going to put all the plants that have grown the wonderful blades and see how they take. If they fail I will start some new seeds and hope for the best. I am just hoping for the best on the plants now. They dried out after I squeezed the excess water and left out of the humid dome to dry a bit. Checked them 24 hours later and the bottoms were just a little moist so I added some water, and then added a small cup to the humidity dome and closed the dome. Hoping for the best over night til the Aero system is ready. If the plants haven't developed much then I will leave them out until they have 2 bladed leaves =)

  11. Are you giving them chlorinated water? Checking your PH? Have they shown any signs of improvement? Or decline?

Sent from the Green Green Garden of Eden

  12. Using Tap water that I left out and then make sure the PH is what the rock wool manufacturor recommends which is 5.5

  13. why would leaving tap water out overnight acidify it?

  14. Leaving the tap water out over night to evaporate the chlorine that usually is in it. I have PH up and down for it
